19.01.2022 There is so much more under the rug.
13.01.2022 EPWA’s first six months have been a relentless battle for both recognition and to start a case for wage theft. However, education institutions are so resilient to change, their architecture so apathetic to innovation and their power over policy and fear is absolute. The system is designed to be resilient to any sort of challenge to its operations. Teachers are afraid to air what needs to be done as they face the recrimination of powerful and ruthless institutions. When you l...ook at ATAR, NAPLAN, mental health programmes, teacher and student disengagement research it is clear that change needs to occur. However, the Minister and Lisa Rodgers (Dept. Ed) seem so reluctant to engage in any sort of meaningful change. Both Lisa and Sue Ellery are not even from teaching backgrounds and perhaps this is why we are so stagnant compared to the rest of the leaders in the OECD. As we move on from COVID-19 we may as well bunker down for the relentless tepidness of more standardised testing, publication of NAPLAN/ATAR results, an unfair and quite frankly unjust funding model to private schools, and a Government that believes the improvement in educational outcomes is derived from how Avant Garde a school’s buildings are. EPWA is desperate to challenge these people, these institutions, and we hope that coming into the latter part of the year and next year we will fly the flag of change for our students, our parents, our teachers and the future of all of our children. There is, after all, an election coming. Time to change. #EPWA #AUSPOL
12.01.2022 This is our Education Minister.
12.01.2022 As we head toward the end of this school year it is a time to reflect and appreciate our educators. Despite avoiding the brunt of the COVID pandemic, schools were pushed to their limit and many a teacher and student had to overcome trying times. Many teachers would have gone beyond their duty to ensure the successes of their students and we all owe a darn lot to those teachers. On reflection, I owe more than a lot to the teachers I had back in the noughties. Many of them had... a great impact on my life. Mr Floyd and Mr Logan at Mazenod and most importantly Mrs Noak at Mount Lawley. When I was in Year 12, I was stabbed and almost killed by a home intruder and if it was not for Mrs Noak, I would not have persevered let alone graduated. Teachers are such an important part of our society and we can all do a little better to tell them that. We should all recognise our teachers that made an impact on our lives, we should all pass it on... No harm in putting a metaphorical apple on their desk! See more
05.01.2022 This is an amazing feat. Maybe we can also start to think about future-proofing our education system? Standardised testing on the out!
03.01.2022 What a success!
