17.01.2022 25/12/2020 MVC Tweed Valley Way Condong At 16:43 Tweed District Rescue Squad was activated to reports of a persons trapped collision on Tweed Valley Way. Upon a...rrival crews were met with a 2 car collision with 1 female driver trapped. Fire crews who arrived just prior stabilised the vehicle utilising a tow truck to prevent the vehicle falling further down the embankment into the Tweed River. Rescue crews provided additional stabilisation utilising tirfor winch’s and stability cribbing. Hydraulic cutters (Jaws of Life) and rams were then used to free the trapped driver. The patient was stabilised by NSW Ambulance Paramedics and RACQ Life Flight aero medical team before being airlifted to Hospital. Special mention to local towing company Murwillumbah District Towing for their response to not only this incident but others where the tow truck has been used to stop a vehicle from falling further. Also, a fence was cut making a clear path to the helicopter, our very own Neil Mack (Neil Mack Fencing) kindly repaired the fence to ensure the land owner had a secure paddock. Christmas day is a day to spend time and celebrate with loved ones. However, our local Tweed emergency services personnel are ready at any time to help the community. The last picture is of some of the dedicated people who attended. Although not in the picture, we cannot forget the Paramedics, Police, and tow truck operators who are also a integral part of the team. #vrarescue NSW Volunteer Rescue Association Inc.
