25.01.2022 That time in the afternoon when the rainbows start hitting the wall

24.01.2022 See what musicians can juggle? This is the impact music can have on your co-ordination, multi-tasking, balance and rhythm!!!!

24.01.2022 Perhaps time to start practising again? Lessons resuming soon!!!

23.01.2022 This is gorgeous!

23.01.2022 Love little Kermie!

23.01.2022 The more music, the merrier!

22.01.2022 Old school music bingo!! Been playing with this set since I put it together about 20 years ago!

22.01.2022 Beautiful interaction using music to cross the bridge

22.01.2022 Here’s some info on keeping your piano clean, particularly during these times.

21.01.2022 The students have been earning money in every lesson this term. The MUSIC MONEY SHOP IS NOW OPEN FOR THE DURATION OF WEEK NINE! Will you shop or save, students? Keep going for your big goal, or spend up and practise more to catch up again. If you are now at home, there is heaps more time to play piano - bonus! Let me know during your online lesson if you would like to purchase and we will organise it. Miss Tina

21.01.2022 Maybe you could add these questions into your practising for the next week and see how it goes?

21.01.2022 In case you need a laugh

21.01.2022 Getting some vitamin D and creating Practice Beads for my students! Coming soon to students in your special Zoom Piano Pack

21.01.2022 Did you know I teach beginners through to advanced level students? It’s possible to run the lessons for all levels online. Some studios were even 100% online before the situation we are in now. I am learning all I can from others and my own research to make sure the lessons run as well as they possibly can for the interim, until we are back to face to face. This is what my online teaching setup looks like from my end

21.01.2022 More supplies have arrived to making teaching... I mean, LEARNING fun #musicgames #pianofun #learnthroughplay

20.01.2022 Using words and pictures to invoke the mood and feeling we want for the piece. Snowflakes is appropriate for today - I’m freezing in this ice box at the school

20.01.2022 Love seeing this memory come up. Feels like yesterday, except so much has happened and changed since! Great memories.

20.01.2022 To all my students who have enjoyed playing Bumble Boogie and anyone who enjoys the original Flight Of the Bumble Bee by Rimsky Korsakov, you are sure to be amused by this garden performance on a watering can The man’s lungs!!!

19.01.2022 A 60 second posture reminder for my students. Double check you are sitting correctly each practice session at home, as it changes the way you play the piano.

19.01.2022 Happy World Teachers Day! A special shout-out to my amazing piano teacher, Mrs Sutton, who motivated me, inspired me and guided me through many years of my foundational learning. She had a dry sense of humour, a gentle and yet firm persona and was always finding new material and solutions to keep me engaged and achieving my personal goals. Miss you beautiful teacher and friend. Sending you love and light and thanking you for everything you brought into my life with your ins...piring presence here. My students are continuing to benefit from your legacy. Tina

19.01.2022 All the feels Congrats awesome nominated teachers!!

18.01.2022 One of the advantages of learning to teach via Zoom - having the flexibility to occasionally teach from somewhere else, while enjoying a family weekend away. #gotthesetup #zoom #zoompianolessons #pianolessons #pianolessonsaustralia #piano

18.01.2022 This is awesome! Love, love, love

18.01.2022 Feeling the love Love my community of students, such a great bunch!! Very grateful

17.01.2022 17 Honours! Great memories

17.01.2022 My daughter, (5 years old) was up for a challenge, so we started on one of Daniel McFarlane’s pieces, Reflections, from Supersonics this week. She is using her homemade bead counter (that I sent out in the Piano Packs for our online lessons) to practise the tricky section with lots of repetition. She was happy to share her progress so far because she’s feeling a bit proud of her hard work Have you been showing up to your practice?

17.01.2022 It’s that time of year where we break out the games! They’re having so much fun they don’t even realise we’re practising scales and technique

17.01.2022 Covering music books kind of day! Don’t think I’ve actually contacted a book since the 90s! Do you use covers or contact for your kids’ books?

17.01.2022 To my students who have played ragtime over the years, you might enjoy this little rendition on a harp, by the principal harpist in the Queensland Symphony Orchestra.

17.01.2022 Haha!!! But who can name all 4 types of chords? Don’t give it away, just raise your hand in the comments, or type I can and send me a message if you want to check if you’re right

16.01.2022 Music is one of the biological languages of the brain. Elements of music are involved in all its functions. Take rhythm for example. Neuro transmission, the ver...y core of how our brain works is a series of rhythmic movements. Music! Melody, the movement of tune, is intrinsically involved in our emotional processing and ability to release. And rhythm and melody are only the basics. There is so much more going on when you really start to understand the Music/Brain relationship. https://www.allisondavies.com.au/support-through-brain-care/

16.01.2022 Oh my goodness! This had me laughing so hard To all my theory students, past and present, it’s only musicians (and maybe Italians!) that will find these amusing! (I’m looking at you Elliena Escott to get all of these ) Give me a music symbol below if you remember them

15.01.2022 and we’re back!

15.01.2022 Back into the action at Kimberley College!

15.01.2022 NEW POSITION! If your child, or someone you know goes to Kimberley College, Carbrook, you are now able to learn with Miss Tina on Mondays and Tuesdays. This is great news for anyone who had tried to get into my schedule previously, but couldn’t because it’s full, or has been on the waiting list. A very convenient option to have piano lessons during the school day and there is so much we can do together! Please spread the word if you have friends or family there or get in touch with me or the school to book in.

15.01.2022 Geez 2011 was hectic! That’s a LOT of theory exams all at once! Loved teaching that group of students - you know who you are

15.01.2022 Now this was totally worth all their practise hours to achieve!! The highlights of isolation

14.01.2022 Lots of note naming on the keys and staff happening today at KC.

14.01.2022 There you have it. Oliver Sacks was an amazing neurologist. His book, Musicophilia, Tales of Music and the Brain was a fascinating read.

14.01.2022 For your Saturday entertainment! A bit of Coldplay played by my student, Alisha.

12.01.2022 A beautiful jazz collaboration of a classic. Did you know I was at the Qld Con at the same time as Katie and we had some classes together? Have always loved listening to her velvety voice and unique arrangements.

11.01.2022 A bit of melancholy improvisation on a rainy, cold day courtesy of Master 6.

11.01.2022 Got my bling on today to run a piano concert at Kimberley College Good luck to all my new students and enjoy!!

10.01.2022 We’ve been running lessons online during this pandemic and it’s hard to feel that sense of community sometimes. Especially for pianists, who often feel isolated learning their instrument, compared to orchestral instrumentalists who socialise when they play together, we need to find our sense of community and support while learning - and most especially during these times. Usually at Miss Tina’s Studio, we run regular soirées to connect, share our music and make friends. We c...an see what our fellow musician friends are learning and be inspired and motivated by them, and share in the fun of the musical journey. Since this has not been possible lately, I have just set up Piano Buddies! We have teamed up in pairs to share performances with our piano friend, track our practice days in pairs and compete against the other teams, create duets through recordings and generally share our journey with someone else who is on their musical learning journey too. Here we have Alivia listening to her piano buddy Emilie’s performance and getting ready to give her some feedback. This is a great way to have a performance goal, get used to playing for others and learning about how to give both positive and constructive feedback to others. I am also planning to run an online soirée, where we put together performance recordings that everyone can watch together. To my piano community, keep practising and refining your performance pieces as we will be collating these soon. Also taking suggestions for pieces the students can learn that are current. What songs are you loving listening to right now? Tina

09.01.2022 How amazing is this!! Lots of fun and well choreographed.

09.01.2022 Ready for another week of Zoom lessons! You are all doing so well with the transition See you for your lesson this week, students, and let me know if you need any further help with your set up.

07.01.2022 And that concludes the teaching term for Term 1! What a term! Well done to all of my students for adapting to the changes of online lessons. Transitions always take time and every lesson I am finding that I am more at ease with using even more online tools to help create a smooth lesson and the students are also getting more used to the change to online each week. They are so great at adapting! I’m so proud of all my students! Zoom Piano Packs will be headed out to students’ homes soon, so we can bring even more fun and physical items back into your lessons like stickers, highlighters, ladybugs, counters, dice and more!! We will be so organised Enjoy the holiday! Remember, students will earn DOUBLE MUSIC MONEY over the holiday break

05.01.2022 Musicians brains Awesome multi-tasking!

04.01.2022 Who says scales aren’t fun? Stickeez to highlight where the sharps are and a homemade bead counter for repetition. Who knows which scale this is?

Plenty of practising hours ahead!!

02.01.2022 Happy New Year folks

02.01.2022 Little Miss 5 did some improvising this morning and found herself a groove she liked! She has entitled this, Marching Up and Down

02.01.2022 It’s been 2 years since you left this world, dear Jenny, and even though the studio has never felt quite the same without our weekly chats and time shared over music, your grandkids keep your spirit alive, because of your inspiration and your guiding light
