16.01.2022 Folklore has it that Tinderbox, Tasmania, Australia was named so by Joshua Fergusson, a tobacco grower in the 1820s, who found a small silver tinderbox on his property near the beach. It was inscribed in French, so was likely to have belonged to one of the crew of the French explorers such as Bruni D’Entrecasteaux.
