22.01.2022 Welcome to Open Day 2020! Normally, we would launch our Open Day with the very special kids at Westmead Children Hospital Burns Unit. We were unable to do that ...this year, but we did take them on a virtual tour through our busiest fire station Fire and Rescue NSW Station 001 City of Sydney which you can watch in the video below. We'd love to share some good wishes with the kids, so leave a comment below and we will pass it on! Open Day has always been our most popular day on the calendar and for good reason. By opening our station doors every year and inviting you in, it gives us a chance to chat about who we are and what we do here at Fire and Rescue NSW. This year we’ve had to rethink the traditional and do things a little differently so while we couldn’t open the station doors to you, we are doing the next best thing and bringing the station to you! So, thanks for joining us, and we hope to see you and speak with you throughout the next week! #FRNSWOpenDay2020 #PreparedForAnything #ProtectTheIrreplaceable #MoreThanFire

18.01.2022 To most 343 is just a number. To nearly all firefighters around the world, it is a humbling reminder of the events that took place in New York on this day, 19 y...ears ago. This is because on 9/11, 343 New York City Fire Department (FDNY) firefighters did not finish their shift. The tragedy claimed the lives of 2977 innocent victims, and many continue to be impacted. To date, 227 additional firefighters have died with illnesses related to 9/11, with 27 names recently added to the FDNY World Trade Centre Memorial Wall. FRNSW shares deep and personal connections with FDNY, we will never forget the immediate and ongoing loss they were dealt and continue to deal with, all those affected are in our thoughts today. 12.01.2022 As the temperatures drop and we get closer to winter we see an increase in residential house fire and house fire related deaths. Today our Fire Investigation an...d Research team showed us just how easy it is for a fire to start in your home when a heater is left unattended. Remember always to keep furniture and blankets at least one meter from the heater, and not to overload powerboard as we head into the winter months. For information on how to prepare your home for winter visit www.fire.nsw.gov.au/winter #PreparedForAnything #FRNSW #ProtectTheIrreplaceable

06.01.2022 This long weekend, when you change your clocks, check your smoke alarm! Many smoke alarms installed before or in the couple of years since 2010 are now starting to reach the end of their life span and will need to be replaced if they are out of date. Don’t risk it, test it. Working smoke alarms help save lives.... #PreparedForAnything #ProtectTheIrreplaceable

06.01.2022 Your swimming pool could have a bigger purpose this summer! With bushfire season commencing, we urge any residents that have a pool, water tank or dam to sign u...p to our Static Water Supply (SWS) program. By displaying this free sign on your letterbox, firefighters can identify where there is an emergency water supply available to protect your home and possessions. Contact your local fire station to sign up now and be bushfire ready. #PreparedForAnything #MoreThanFire #ProtectTheIrreplaceable
