24.01.2022 It is with a mix of emotions that we announce that we are down sizing our business and have sold our premises in Pheasant Creek. A little history of where it all began.... Kevin Tinker and his business partner started ‘W & T Engineering’ which later became ‘Range Equipment’ in 1975 from their factory in Thomastown, manufacturing Front End Loaders and Agricultural Accessories. Kevin & Gloria moved to Kinglake West in 1981 and in 1982 Kevin started his own business ‘KD Tinke...r & Son’ continuing in manufacturing and engineering. Rod became his Dad’s apprentice and learnt all the valuable knowledge that Kevin had to impart. In 1988 the business became ‘K & R Tinker Engineering’ getting Rod ready to take over the reins. In 1991 we purchased the business from Rod’s parents where ‘Tink’s Equipment’ began.... As the years went by, we built 2 factories; each bigger than the previous to accommodate the demand for our products. Countless long hours, highs & lows over the years, we developed it into what was a successful business with 15 employees at its peak. We employed numerous young locals that worked after school hours and also had 15 Apprentices successfully complete their trades with us. We were proud of our achievements. It became our home away from home and many of our employees became our second family. Sadly, the steady increase of imports has had a devastating impact on manufacturing and associated trades in Australia. Declining sales, the ever rising costs such as materials, insurance, rates, electricity, wages, etc has meant that as a business, we are no longer able to employ staff and continue down the same path. We thank everyone from the bottom of our hearts that supported us at Tink’s Equipment; either working for us or purchasing from us, as every little bit helped to support a local small business. Please be advised we STILL don’t have eftpos facilities. Been out since FRI 27/7/18. CASH payments only until issue is fixed. TELSTRA has advised, ‘Yes we can see that there is an outage in your area. No, we can’t give you a date for restoration, but be assured our technicians are doing their best to restore as quick as possible’....
