23.01.2022 "How many fingers are left if you put down 2?" This week in our Yonga Room, the children have been learning about counting and adding/subtracting numbers together. We usually wouldn't include addition and subtraction into our curriculum, but recently our enthusiastic Yonga children have shown such a keen interest in adding and subtracting numbers. As part of our Kindy Program, each day we incorporate numeracy and literacy, as well as many other areas of development necessary in the preparation for school.

23.01.2022 Happy Monday! Our little Rosie Rabbit is loving life in her new home. Paige went for a visit over the weekend and informed us that she loves to live under the TV unit to keep warm and dry during the winter months.

19.01.2022 Snot colours - good or bad? We get a lot of questions everyday on snotty noses and what is ok and not ok to attend daycare with, especially now with COVID. Have a look at the chart below for an insight into what the colour of your snot means and remember, if your child has a yellow/green coloured snotty nose, please keep them home until it is safe for them to attend.

It was such a knowledgeable training and we will definitely be implementing it through our curriculum to help our children understand that they each have a right to be safe from harm and to feel safe also.

16.01.2022 Day 1 of our back garden renovation As we are consistently reflecting on our practices and play spaces, we decided that it was time to update our back garden and provide the children with the opportunity to have a bike track and grass area for various activities to be set up. Today the work began and to say the children were intrigued would be an understatement. I think our windows were occupied all day watching the small digger doing its job out the back.

07.01.2022 Fire Drill Evacuation This morning we practiced our monthly fire drill where we had a fire in our back garden. All of our children responded very well to our fire alarm and gathered in a group before exiting the centre into the front car park. Today, it only took us a total of 4 minutes to exit the centre in a calm and efficient way. All the children patiently sat down and waited for their names to be called in our roll call before we headed back inside to have a chat about fire safety and what to do in emergencies.

02.01.2022 Were Going On A Bear Hunt Today, our Yonga Room engaged in an interactive story telling experience where their outdoor veranda was turned into a Bear Hunt Experience. Using the fantastic book by Michael Rosen and Helen Oxenbury as a guide, with the help from Teacher Allesha, the children went through the long wavy grass (grass we had cut from our bushes yesterday), a deep cold river (blue blanket with water being sprayed over them), thick oozy mud (sand), a big dark forest (black mat with plants around it) and then approached a big dark cave with a bear inside (cardboard box with big teddy bear). This experience is so easy to set up and was so exciting for the children to do as part of a group expanding their imaginative, creative, verbal and sensory skills. We would highly recommend that you try it at home.

02.01.2022 Our Yonga children are making the most of the nice weather and our new playground as they have their rest time outside today. Fresh air and the sounds of birds in the background are the best things to rest to

01.01.2022 Important Information regarding CCS Centrelink are currently requesting for all families to update their details to ensure they are still eligible for CCS. Even though you may have been receiving CCS prior to April 6th when the free childcare started, somethings may have changed with your income, or you may not yet have updated your 2018-19 income.... If you have not updated this or have recently become ineligible for CCS, which can happen for a numerous of reasons, you will not be eligible to receive CCS from July 13th onwards or until you update your details and you will then have to pay full fees for childcare. If you are a new family and have never claimed CCS before, please ensure that you have submitted a claim for CCS before July 12th to ensure your fees are being subsidised. CCS are no longer willing to back pay families who have not organised this before July 13th.
