25.01.2022 What an exciting morning we have had here at our school!!! We had the wonderful African beats come out to our school and teach us about the different African instruments and their names. We learnt a song that is sung in Africa and we got to play the drums. Both children and staff were engaged and had a fun and interactive time. Through this experience children learnt about cultural diversity and different types of music and movement from another place in the world.

22.01.2022 Every year 29 children between the ages of 12 - 36 months drown in Australia and 50% of those numbers are in pools. The heat is upon us which means children will be playing with water to cool down. Children can drown in any water that is more than 3 cm deep. Have you been watching closely? Follow the link below to learn all about drowning and drowning prevention - remember drowning happens quickly and quietly. At Tiny Scholars we ensure that all our staff are qualified in first Aid and CPR training. We also involve water safety in our curriculum with all the children to ensure they also take responsibility for their own health and well being and make informed decisions regarding home pools and any water play.

17.01.2022 As we continued to celebrate St. Patricks week , we have been encouraging our tiny scholars to identify the country Ireland in the world map and to explore Irish culture by introducing Irish patron St. Patrick and the green shamrock leaf to them. We believe that when children explore the diversity of culture, heritage, background and tradition and that diversity presents opportunities for choices and new understandings. Keeping the St Patrick week in mind, our educators h...ave been planing various experiences such as painting, collage, sorting, sensory play, visual arts, cause and effect activities, tasting green fruits and vegetables, reading cultural story books, cooking experiences, problem solving games for children to explore and further develop their skills and strengths throughout the week. One of the sensory experience was planned to encourage their social skills, language skills and motor skills. Our Kookaburra children were challenged to use spoons, fork and little glasses to scoop the drifting objects and place them into small pots besides the shared large one.Children who spontaneously participated in this experiences, showed a great sense of persistence and curiosity as they fostered the development of their hand eye coordination, colour recognition skills, sharing skills, expressive language skills and fine motor skills during this experience. 11.01.2022 This week our Kookaburras have been exploring our home corner which has been set as a Supermarket. The Children are enjoying being engaged in different roles such as the cashier and customers. They have been practicing to write shopping lists, filling shopping baskets and exploring all the print and language in this rich environment. They are experimenting with decision making on how to behave and are also practising their social skills. They also pretended that there is fi...re in the shop, calling 000 which leads to a group of fire fighters saving the day by watering the fire on time!!! Imaginative play is essentially when children are role playing and are acting out various experiences they may have had or something that is of some interest to them. Children learn from experience: from what happens around them, from what they see, hear, smell, taste and touch. To absorb those experiences and make sense of the world, they need to be engaged in imaginative play. Sometimes children take on real-world roles, other times they take on fantasy roles. Either way, it is play that involves breaking down the barriers of reality and results in serious and natural learning.

They wrote the script together, chose the costumes and filmed the short film. They then edited the video together keeping the important parts and discarding the rest. This experience was enjoyed by all and we hope you enjoy this short film as it was so much fun making it!
