24.01.2022 The perfect afternoon treat thanks to a beautiful mum who also happens to be a qualified Baker! We are so grateful for the appreciation and thoughtful Christmas gifts from our Tiny Tots SP families.

23.01.2022 The best recent $5 investment from Kmart!! Our Tiny Tots are LOVING this game and it can be used to work on lots of communication goals! We use it to work on: Speech sounds - your child says the target word/sound/ phrase a couple of times to earn a piece of ice before playing the game ... Turn taking and joint attention Language concepts e.g. lots of ice vs a little ice, blue vs white, hot vs cold, top vs bottom Speaking smoothly without stuttering Following your child's lead in play and modelling language by commenting on what they are doing e.g. tapping the hammer, smashing the ice, building the ice lake etc.

17.01.2022 Is your child bilingual? If so, the @bilingualspeechie has put together this great poster that debunks some common myths. At Tiny Tots SP we support children who speak multiple languages and support families to help their child's language development. Fun fact: Our principle SLP spent time teaching English in Chile, South America and is passionate about the benefits of multilingualism... Her Spanish is a little rusty these days but she's always keen to practice!

13.01.2022 Is your little one a picky eater? Are you stuck for ideas to help your child to expand the variety of foods that they will eat? @feedingpickyeaters has created this lovely visual to demonstrate how you can gradually introduce your child to new foods using a principle known as food chaining. This method is based on the fact that children will eat what they enjoy, and that by making small modifications to the sensory properties of a food that your child likes, you can gradual...ly introduce them to a new food with similar properties. At Tiny Tots Speech Pathology we support children to develop their feeding and communication skills in a gentle, calm and supportive environment. Call us on 0466 340 040 to find out how we can help your child.

12.01.2022 That's right! Repetition is key when teaching your tot to talk, especially if they have a language impairment. TINY TOTS TIP: When reading with your child, focus on talking about the pictures using simple language rather than reading all of the words on the page. You might say, "Look a rabbit!", "Hello rabbit!", "Rabbit is hopping", "He's a friendly rabbit". You could also add the sign for rabbit to emphasise the animal's name

12.01.2022 Wishing all of our Tiny Tots SP families a very Merry Christmas and a wonderful 2021!! We look forward to a fun-filled few weeks of therapy before a three week break. A huge thank-you to everyone for their support, patience, positive feedback, referrals, and dedication to therapy this year!! We are very blessed and look forward to celebrating more successes in the new year!

10.01.2022 What exactly is Autism? (By @mrsspeechiep) While the autism spectrum is HUGE, it is a constellation of characteristics that include: Language Differences, Social Differences, and Restrictive/Repetitive Behaviors. (Please see graphic for some specific examples) These are just some examples of what can fall under each category. One does not need to have all or even most of these characteristics to have autism, these are just some of the most common. ... It's also important to know that these kids can be super smart, friendly, loveable, awesome, amazing, and anything else! You can read more about autism here: www.mrsspeechiep.com/autism See more
