24.01.2022 From @nicolecruzrd: They should be exploring new foods, eating with their families and friends, helping in the kitchen, and eating what their parents provide. ...Worrying about health is not their job! Health is an abstract topic, and it's far too abstract for their little brains to grasp. They can't apply nutrition or healthy information. It actually becomes damaging to try and teach them about health topics. Since they think in concrete terms, they have to place the abstract topic into terms they understand. These things might include: I'm bad for eating pizza I'm going to die if I eat "too much" ice cream I can't ever eat chips Foods make me unhealthy And these ideas of moderation, balance, not too often or too much. No clue!!! They don't know how to apply it. And even if they could, that is not their job! We are the parents and it is our job to decide what food and when it is available. All they should be doing is listening to their bodies (which they do intuitively). When we all stay in our own lanes and trust the process, our children actually develop a healthier relationship with food, without us ever having to talk to them about it. 14.01.2022 And that’s a pretty rad thing!!! Body diversity is wonderful and something to be in awe of, curious about, celebrated, affirmed. Body diversity makes us more interesting, more resilient as a species, more adaptable, more compassionate, stronger.

11.01.2022 Acceptance and love come from within, not from body manipulation or weight loss. I can guarantee you that the insecurities you have now do not go away when your... body changes. The thing we need to change is our brain, not the size of our thighs or the rolls on our belly. Start with neutrality and acceptance, and watch your thinking change. Changing your body won’t silence that negative voice in your head, but changing your thoughts will!

11.01.2022 Today is International No Diet Day - a day that the CFIH team is passionate about given the harm we see resulting from diets and dieting on a daily basis in our... clinic. *Dieting is the number 1 risk factor for developing an eating disorder - the psychiatric illness with the highest rate of mortality. *Dieting is a better predictor of weight gain than weight loss with 97% of people gaining back more than they lost after 5 years. *Dieting is linked to poor self-esteem, interpersonal problems, impaired cognitive function, and mood disturbance. Today, we encourage you to not only not diet but to push back against diet culture. Here are 9 ways you can do just that. #InternationalNoDietDay
