19.01.2022 I was blessed to have several good friends take my girl Bracken and me out hunting. Darky was a good mate, and along with his Curly Coated Retriever, we had some great times. Last night Darkys house at Goolwa burned to the ground. His daughter sought help to find his dog, but the sad message this morning is that Mash didnt make it out of the house. My friend Pamela Hayter has set up a Go Fund Me page to help Darky and Kayla. We would be grateful if you could too. Darky is pictured in Flinders Hospital recovering from a stroke back in 2011. As for the retiring comment - I DON'T THINK SO!!! Sorcha said to tell you that she always knew her kids were super smart as well as handsome/beautiful.... Well done and looking forward to the next title!

09.01.2022 Dougie would have been thrilled about this as will be Rogue. They love/d the Easter Bunny. Rogue's big one is many years old and STILL sings. This is Rogue snugggling with Dougie's bunny who needs a new battery.

She, like her mother and grandmother, are very intelligent thinkers capable of achieving what you set your mind to. 05.01.2022 Just a little warning regarding the Xmas treat many stores are now starting to stock for dogs at xmas. Many of these so called treats end up with the dog "enjoy...ing" some time in a veterinary surgery over Christmas. The vast majority of these rawhide products and treats come from China. The chews are made from cattle or horse hides and their journey starts with the hides being soaked in a toxic sodium sulphide to remove the hair and fat. More chemicals are used in order to split the hide into layers which is then washed with hydrogen peroxide to give the white "pure" look and remove the rancid smell. Now comes the pretty festive colours and the glue to form cute shapes. On testing, these chews have shown traces of arsenic, mercury, chromium and formaldehyde. If that wasn't bad enough, they regularly cause intestinal blockages, poisoning from chemical residue and choking. The chews go slippery when wet and are near impossible to get hold of to save a choking dog. Leave them in the shop where they belong or if some well meaning person buys them for your dog put them safely away for later, then dispatch in the bin! Please be safe with your dogs!

04.01.2022 Hi Grandmamas, Grandpapas and Mummy. We had a couple of 18degree days and today SHOULD have been similar. Now the Rogue and Sorcha have fully recovered it was a chance for a clip off for everyone. We were supposed to have full bath sessions too, but today the temperature forgot itself and a chill factor returned. So here I, Cassidy, am wearing stunning all-over jumpsuit. I thought I was pretty special. My turn, my turn.. Mum said to let the wild child go first so she would ...maybe lie down for a while. 01.01.2022 Yesterday the senior girls went up to see Uncle Dave and the fabulous staff at Gawler Animal Hospital along with Cassidy and George who didn't want to be home alone. Rogue has a sebaceous cyst sorted. It burst at the beginning of last year, then promptly returned. It burst again the same night as Niamh's cancer erupted back in January. Niamh took priority so I've been dealing with it while in lockdown. Sorcha had an ear that refused to co-operate to my cleaning.... Both needed a pedicure as my hands are no longer able to work nail cutters. I've bought a grinder, but we needed to take the length off so I can manage. (Did I say I hate this getting old caper??) So yesterday we sat in the car for several hours (we live a good hour from the surgery) waiting for the girls to be awake enough to bring home. Meanwhile, Cassidy had her booster shot which had been due in April, but again was delayed while we obeyed seniors at risk instructions. The older girls were happy to be home in a warm house on favorite beds and slept soundly till this morning. Cassidy and her sidekick just wanted their play session. Grateful as ever for the care given to the brown ones Gawler guys.
