25.01.2022 Our new boy, a wait malu Alex. Just had his milk and off to the humidicrib. Velvet and brought to us by community.

20.01.2022 This is Abraham. He’s a Euro and has settled in now. Still shy of humans but accepts us and is doing so well.

19.01.2022 Poppy and Bono enjoying their evening bottle. He’s been a bit off this eeek but improving and she’s doing so well on day 7 away from mum, 1st day at Alice Well.

17.01.2022 A few of the others at feed time. They’ve ‘mobbed up’ so very well. Georgia in 1 & 2.

15.01.2022 Hi, no photos this evening. At 2330 we heard a noise n the back verandah, headed out there to find a pink and grey confused in the caged verandah. While Lorelle dealt with that I had to race out to the car to chase off dingos! The life of a wildlife carer.

15.01.2022 The Simpson desert can get a bit warm, the bigger Malu and euros can cope but the joeys get to enjoy the ac once the temperature starts to really climb.

14.01.2022 Hello and apologies for the tardiness of our postings recently. Lorelle is busy setting up a new business and David is caring for an elder as well as the Miriam of jobs out Alice Well. We took care of a young euro, Abraham a couple of weeks ago so he’s joined the other four here and he’s settled in tremendously mobbing up with Rusty the dominant male amongst the euros being very protective and showing him the ropes. You usually find him with Rusty or one of the three kungas (...females). We’ve managed to get rid of the fox but the 2 dingos still visit around full moon, we chase them off and the fence extension is going ahead as David can find time. Dubs tan is growing wonderfully and has a thick wooly coat and he and the other 5 malu still love their ama, (milk). So you the white ‘red’ is calmer and allows us closer than ever. Georgia is still the cuddles but Mr T also comes up for kisses. Miss Moneypenny spends most of her days with Soxy while Boomer andMr T seem friendly. We had rain for a couple of hours two nights ago! First rain since David home in March, settled the dust nicely but the weather is so cold, down to freezing. I’ll post some pictures of all these mobs within a couple of days. See more

14.01.2022 This Alex a Red from Titjikala. Velvet when he first arrived now a lovely coat he doing so well.

13.01.2022 Apologies for the lack of photos. Lorelle is away for the week in Alice Springs for work purposes so I’m here caring for elders and land. We have a new boy, Alex brought to us a couple of days ago by Campbell mob from Titjikala. He’s just a velvet but he’s taking his milk well and so far seems to be thriving . In the next couple of days I will get photos up. Abraham our youngest Euro is doing well living with the others, Rusty and his 3 kungas have accepted him really well. All the Malu are doing very well despite the horrid cold nights, love their warm milk each morning.

12.01.2022 Hello everyone. Alex and Bono, both Malu (reds) doing so well. Both brought to us by our wonderful mob from Titjikala. We’ve spent a lot of time learning from them and teaching people how to care for young joeys. With the granting of our prerelease license we’re moving forward and providing an safe place for the future care of our wildlife. Thankroo for your support.

11.01.2022 Sorry for the delay we’ve been very busy. The last two boys in are Alex and Bono, both lovely youngsters. The two are inseparable, Alex is in the pouch and Bono is the one standing up on the verandah where they can safely get exercise and avoid the many eagles and hawks we have out here.

09.01.2022 Hello everyone and thankroo for your support. We had Parks and Wildlife here yesterday and it all went well with John saying we’d get our prerelease permit granted. Lots of work by so many to help us to this point. We have a new Joey, Bono brought to us by family from Titjikala. He’s been well cared for and is strong and healthy, takes his bottle well and is providing company for Alex. Pictures will follow.

09.01.2022 Lorelle and David with their babies. We have developed a very close relationship to our malu. We’ve taken them rescue to release and we have and will do anything for them to help them live a real, safe free life. We are building the Titjikala Wildlife Sanctuary and Conservation Park at Alice Well in the Simpson desert. We have a fund raiser on GoFundMe https://www.gofundme.com/TitjikalaWildlifeSanctuary. We are extremely grateful for all and any help of which every cent will be put to the building of this project and the care of our charges.

09.01.2022 Hello all you wonderful people. Not been a good day and we’ve just come in from a very cold desert after chasing 2 dingos away from the malu pen. We have a herd of donkeys, another of cattle and just to top the day off, camels! We’d prefer to think they’re visiting to say goodbye to Erni. Tomorrow we’ll be doing a perimeter walk and track down where the dingos have gone. We don’t think they have a den nearby and hopefully are just passing through as we’re the only permanent water for miles around.

08.01.2022 Hello all our wonderful followers and supporters. This Thursday we have Parks and Wildlife visiting to inspect the property, fences and care arrangements. Please cross your fingers and send all the best wishes. We do not expect any issues but it is an inspection, our first at Alice Well. We’ll let you know how it goes and include some new pictures.

07.01.2022 A new arrival just today. This is the Simpson desert, any idea of what it is and what it’s doing here?

06.01.2022 Bono having 2nd breakfast, Alex greeting the dawn, Georgia, T-Rex and Rusty. Cool of the morning before the heat sets in. Little Poppy already back in her pouch.

05.01.2022 Wednesday turned out to be a long and as of this afternoon successful day with an 800km round trip, 600 of it on rough 4WD roads. Ernie’ brother Burtram was vomiting in the morning so he was off the the vet. Then we got a call from Lana at the Finke (Aputula) clinic, she’d had a small Joey handed in so it was in the car and off by 0900 We got home at 2100, Jojo the Joey dropped off with a carer, Deb and Burt at the vets, Pavo negative. Today we got reports that Jojo is doing very well and Bert is being picked up tomorrow, no Pavo! Hooray. Pictures of Jojo on my lap in the car and Bert with his mum Misty. Jojo will return to us in a little while and we pick up Bert tomorrow!

05.01.2022 Up again at 0400 with three dingos at the malu fence, not a lot of sleep after we’d chased them off. This morning we buried our little puppy Erni in the centre of the pen beneath a tall gum tree to release him back into the world. Now to check the fence and ensure it’s secure and the malu are safe. All the other nine dogs, 8 of whom are direct family for Erni are quiet today and watched us bury him. The capacity for empathy expressed by animals give the lie to those who think they ‘only animals’, they’re sentiment and every day we get interact so closely with them just serves to confirm this to us. To all our followers, thank you for your compassion and support, keep up your care and together we can build a better world for all living beings.

05.01.2022 Morning, for us it’s not a good one. Very hot here at Alice Well yesterday, 48C and very windy which lasted all night. At 0530 this morning when I was feeding them their breakfast I found Dunstan deceased in the yard. He had grown here from a small vulnerable Joey into a young male with the prerelease mob but he chose to stay close to home and was a gentle and curious Malu. The last two days he had had some diahorrea which we had thought was related to his love of the lucern chaff ? Now he is laid to rest on these lands and his soul can be released back into the world to be with us and his mob forever. RIP my little man.

02.01.2022 G’day, much better news. A cool day, only 30C and a new addition, please say hello to Poppy collected today from Titjikala.
