19.01.2022 An excellent article

16.01.2022 Well hasn't little Bonnie grown up to be quite the beauty The whole package, working mobs of sheep, had her stop, hold, block, sides, down and a nice quick reliable call off, all before she was 4 months old. I'm so proud of this litter from Melrose and Tjukurpa. They have proven the worth of our 16 year breeding plan of putting solids over Merles. You just can't breed an unhealthy litter and these pups continue our time honoured tradition of true balance, they have it all, st...rong natural work ethics and health, stamina, personability, are just as happy playing with the children as they are working in yard, race, shed and field. And all before 12 months. I look forward with great excitement as I follow this well rounded litters progress. I hope to share that journey with you all, to give a good account of what the Australian koolie looks like and behaves like. A koolie should never be high strung or overly excitable but should take all things in its stride. Even in the most excitable of moments a well bred and properly handled Koolie will always remain calm and steady. See more

16.01.2022 This is the truth, today it's the flat coated Retriever, but if we do not manage the Koolie gene pool in such a way to insure the continued safety of our rich diversity and strong, clean, genetic material then this will be the breed's future. The question is not if it will happen but when. It is time to stop further damage to our gene pool and begin to protect what is the very lives of our future koolies, our fragile and precious gene pool. Breeders must stop breeding Merle t...o Merle. The practice of outcrossing (to other bloodlines) and x breeding (to other working breeds) must be done only after full health tests have been completed and given the all clear. Line breeding/inbreeding must not be permitted without direction through use of DNA and consideration for the safety and impact to the gene pool. The breed club needs to produce clear easily understood genetic material and guidelines for all members/non members and potential buyers/future breeders which covers the dangers and results of incorrect and potentially harmful breeding programs, the necessity of using DNA and refuse to register those litters produced from Merle to Merle mating or non health certified blended bloodlines. Consideration of deregulation of any breeder breeding Merle to Merle or selling without health certificates should be an option. Breeders and breed clubs can no longer ignore their obligations to the safety of the gene pool. If breeders are not just breeding for their own use, once an intact canine leaves their care they no longer can guarantee how that animal will be used. Therefore they must make every effort to insure that the genes of their bloodlines remain clear of disease by doing health tests, for all breeding stock, all introduced bloodlines, and all bloodlines not of that breed. Please consider it's not much to ask, when you'er talking about the very lives of our Koolies.

16.01.2022 Breeders should be ashamed of what they have done to this legendary breed. Please don't follow in their footsteps with the koolie. <3 Don't support focused breeding, not for colour, trait, type or coat. Support breeders who breed for all of the above including character this is known as balanced breeding and it will always produce sound reliable dogs. DNA health testing will ensure the continued health but breeders still need to select for balanced pups.

15.01.2022 Mother and daughter, looking good

13.01.2022 It is with a heavy heart we say good bye to a legend of the koolie community. Passed on, but never forgotten Chance first koolie to open the paths that others can only followed.

12.01.2022 The Koolie as a breed is a non aggressive dog, but there are always exceptions to the rule. For Koolie owners who are having aggression issues with their dogs. All dogs no matter their breeding but Koolies in particular draw their confidence first from their litter mates and mother and other pack....Continue reading

07.01.2022 Please don't buy from breeders who breed Merle to Merle, please help us to stop this from ever happening again.
