19.01.2022 This week we were honoured to receive a very special visit by a gentleman by the name of Siegfried Martin (Ziegfield Terouski). Siegfried’s son contacted us a few weeks ago mentioning that his father had trained at TJ’s many years ago and at age 92 wished to visit the gym to reminisce on the days of old. We infrequently receive these kind of phone calls and always welcome boxers of the past to come and revisit their youth by taking a walk down memory lane. However this time a...round was particularly special. It turned out that Siegfried was one of Tommy’s most decorated champions and is one of the most prominent and featured boxers adorning our gym walls. Siegfried was a kind, gentle and humble man and unfortunately did not recall a great amount of his experiences at the gym or his interactions with Tommy. HOWEVER, the moment he stood in front of the bag, or tried to size up Chris, you could tell very quickly that as much as his memory may have failed to share with us his past experience, his fists proved otherwise with an effortless demonstration of preparing his stance and throwing shots! It was absolutely UNREAL to watch an almost 100 year old so naturally form up and box on after such a long time. We would like to thank Siegfried’s lovely and generous wife and his loving children for allowing us to have Siegfried bless the gym with his presence, it was such a privilege to have him visit the club and we hope it can happen again in the future. All the best Siegfried, may you be an example and inspiration to everyone at our gym and to all boxers everywhere, may you live many years and be blessed!
