23.01.2022 Got some awesome insights from my meeting with Rohan Williams this week. Rohan is an IT man who knows the ins and outs of all things IT. After 30 years in corporate and business Rohan decided to become his own boss and 3 years ago purchased his own Jim’s IT franchise. 2 things really stand out to me about Rohan from the get-go. One, he knows his stuff. And two, he is a pleasure to deal with. Rohan has a happy disposition and is a great communicator. Seems to ha...ve a knack for keeping it simple and getting to the heart of the matter. Just what you want if you need some IT support. He is passionate about getting the best for each business. I like to look at how things are running, what’s currently in place, and what could really make a difference to that business. Rohan is also the man that Jim’s send the problems to that others can’t solve. A one stop shop for small business, he can make sure your business has right technology, and that’s it working at its best. He’ll help you to get more from your systems, respecting the investment already made, and identifying what you can leverage to become more efficient. He loves being his own boss, and having the flexibility to balance family and business, and being in charge of his own time. Rohan is a keen renovator and enjoys looking at old things and fixing up or updating them. A skill many of us would like! He has renovated 5 houses, including transforming a 3 bedroom 1950’s Ballarat home which he gutted, re-walled, painted, stumped and put on a new roof. If you think Rohan and his business are awesome too, then show your support by leaving a positive comment below and sharing this post Jim's Computer Services - Skye

22.01.2022 Should I join a business networking group? Yes or No I speak to business owners about networking groups and what I hear falls into 2 camps.... 1. It is an expensive waste of time, or 2. It is invaluable in terms of building friendships, being able to talk business with other owners and, as you develop stronger relationships and trust, it easily pays for itself in referrals. Business network groups have members from all walks of life all with the shared interests of growing their business and growing personally. Entrepreneurship is not so much about taking risks, as being a risk specialist. Good awareness, understanding and astuteness around risk. And as a specialist, we can stretch our envelop, identify the risks with doing so, vet our ability to mitigate the risks, and go for it. So back to networking? Is it risky? Are you a Yes or a No?

19.01.2022 The journey from Madras to Fitzroy for Hrishi Venkatachalam and his brother Magesh is anything but ordinary. Growing up in the bustling metropolis now kno...wn as Chennai in Southern India the brothers were born into a culinary tradition and spent years in and around the family restaurant. Like all good Indian boys education came first and that meant school in Madras followed by university in Melbourne. Careers soon followed but the lure of restaurants was always there and it was not long before an opportunity arose to take over an Indian restaurant in Traralgon. Always striving to learn more Rishi split his time between Traralgon and Melbourne where he took a barista job. But Rishi sought more adventure and was soon on a plane to London. In London, Rishi found work at a French Brasserie where his barista skills were put to good use. His next step was the world of high end cocktail bars where he learned to work and play hard in a high pressure environment committing over 200 cocktails to memory and seeing first hand a top shelf hospitality venue. Upon returning home, to Traralgon, Hrishi shook up the country pub scene by opening The 3844 cocktail bar. The locals loved it. So with a successful restaurant and cocktail bar the story could end there but the brothers had other ideas. Their dream was a true Southern Indian restaurant in the heart of Melbourne so they opened Madras Brothers on Smith Street Fitzroy. At Madras Brothers you will discover delicious and authentic Southern Indian food just as you would experience in Madras including curries and the famous Dosa savoury pancakes. Rishi and Magesh have succeeded in delivering a real Madras restaurant experience in the heart of Fitzroy where you can feel the history and passion for food that runs in their family. With creative takeaway and home cook options, do yourself favour and check out Madras Brothers at 129 Smith Street Fitzroy and https://madrasbrothers.com.au/ or The 3844 in Traralgon. Indian food will never be the same again.

12.01.2022 Jack was my mentor when I first started. If it wasn't for his encouragement and advice I wouldn't be where I am now. Mugs alley-presents with a difference

10.01.2022 Rosebud’s Tyrepower and its owner Joe Melhem, is the sort of business that provides the glue that sits behind the local Southern Peninsula community. Joe earned his ability to buy into the Tyrepower franchise 17 years ago, through putting in the hard yards working for others. Since then, he has thrown that passion behind providing a high-value service based on trust and a commitment to always doing what is best for the customer. ... Tyrepower is not typical of a franchise, rather, they conduct business at a personal level. A well-known business with an awesome reputation, Tyrepower is a keen supporter of many sporting organisations in the region including the Rosebud and Dromana footy, cricket and bowls clubs, as well as the Rosebud Country Club. My wife and I have bought tyres off Joe and his team on several occasions. Every time we have been impressed with their friendliness, service and support. They call a spade a spade and we feel we are in good hands. I completely got it when Joe said, the best thing about being in this business, in this area, is the people. Having strong relationships with so many locals, and never knowing who’ll walk in the door that day. Another chance to help them, and to treat people the way you like to be treated. I recommend you check out the website: https://www.tyrepowerrosebud.com.au/ or you can contact Joe on 5982 1377.

01.01.2022 I have had a bit of well-deserved luck around networking activity lately. So I thought I'd try and capture it. Strategy: Target Yes people.
