23.01.2022 Even before Covid-19 hit, violence against women and girls had reached pandemic proportions. LBTI women - especially from marginalised groups - have been affected even more, facing further marginalisation and violence. It’s everyone’s duty to end violence against *all* women!

22.01.2022 As a woman of transgender experience and a co director of the TLLPC we work in the diversity and inclusion space. It was great to see the young girl ask her question, and the response from the director of Media Diversity Australia was spot on. One of the things we are trying to do is get transgender voices heard in the media as well. Cant wait to see the day when we have transgender person as a news and currant affairs presenter.

21.01.2022 The work done and goals set for the future work is so important. It does cost though, so please help where you can and please share far and wide - this is such a worthy cause. Be the first whose donation will be matched! Your act of kindness as always will go a long way in support for our community. https://giveout.org.au/fdpn-lgbtiqrefugees

17.01.2022 October is the LGBT+ history month. Since 1951 Refugee Convention and its 1967 Protocol are the key international instruments that are saving peoples lives. Ho...wever, in relation to LGBTIQ people, only in 2008 UNHCR issued Guidance Note on Refugee Claims Relating to Sexual Orientation And Gender Identity for the first time dealing comprehensively with refugee claims based on sexual orientation and/or gender identity. In October 2012 new Guidelines on International Protection No. 9: Claims to Refugee Status based on Sexual Orientation and/or Gender Identity were issued to provide advice on substantive, procedural, evidentiary and credibility issues relating to such claims. In the 2019 Global Refugee Forum, the space remained heteronormative where LGBTIQ lives remained invisible and their needs for safety are not met. Tina Dixson persisted, risked her career but broke the silence about LGBTIQ displacement in her speech during the Refugee Statement Closing plenary Assembly Hall, 18 December 2019. Stay tuned every Thursday this month for a little lesson on LGBTIQ+ history.
