04.01.2022 Struggling to juggle everything as you work from home? One of our wonderful TLS Marketing experts recently wrote a social media blog with her tips on working from home and balancing family life. We love that we can provide flexibility to our employees as a family-first employer! Here are her top 10 tips........ 1) Create a work space that is just for you. Make sure you have a comfortable desk, natural light and fresh air! 2) Have a good morning routine that prepares you for the day...daily gratitude, affirmations, exercise, a good breaky and time with your family. Then get your headspace in the game as soon as you cross that line from family space to work space. 3) Set yourself a weekly to do list and then each day break that down to a daily list that is achievable. 4) Set hours that you plan to work, try to stick to them and make sure you include time for breaks in those hours!! 5) Listen to your mind and body and make sure you stop before you burn out and then become unproductive. Take a coffee break outside in the sun, a lunch break away from your desk and then a quick afternoon snack while you check in with the fam before those final end of day work tasks! 6) Make sure you have all your tech ready to go and accessible. Like quick messaging tools to chat to your team online (I use Hangout), video conferencing tools (like Zoom or Hangout video), a good internet system or booster modem box, a phone charger close by and of course your phone!! 7) Have a weekly meeting with your team so you can go through your tasks, ask for help or offer help for those overwhelmed and give advice if someone is struggling. Keep connected during the week to check in with each other like you would if you walked by their desk or met in the office kitchen. 8) When you close the door at the end of the day leave your work behind that door or at the line of where that work space starts and ends. Its hard to do so sometimes but give it your best shot! 9) My biggest tip is dont become so task-orientated that you are trying to be house manager, parent and employee all at one time. Try to set up a routine that means you can balance it all out! And if you dont get it all done dont get upset or feel you havent achieved what you should...give yourself a pat on the back for what you have done and let the rest go until tomorrow. 10) Now I know having kids at home can throw a spanner in the works! So set a routine for them too. Plan out what tasks (school or home) need to be done and put them in as a to do list for each part of the day. Set them break times as well and try to do them at the same time as yours so you can check in with each other and catch up on where they are at with their tasks and what they have been up to. Again do the best you can but dont stress if some days tech time is a bit more than normal!
