24.01.2022 A reminder that the Tamborine Mountain Botanic Gardens are open from dawn until dusk every day. Please enjoy the environment and PLEASE maintain social distancing and be kind to one another. It might be busy this weekend. And, in anticipation, Happy Mother's Day to all the mums.

20.01.2022 NAME CHANGE AGREED FOR TAMBORINE MOUNTAIN BOTANIC GARDENS The Committee of Tamborine Mountain Botanic Gardens Inc unanimously agreed upon a change of name for the Gardens during a meeting on Thursday, September 3.... The new name is Tamborine Mountain Regional Botanic Gardens in the Scenic Rim. The decision to change the name was approved at the Annual General Meeting of members in August. The motion called on the Committee of the Association to decide the final wording of the name that must "include significant reference to the Scenic Rim; that the name continue to include the words Tamborine Mountain." The change was announced to the volunteers working in the Gardens and greeted with approval. Tamborine Mountain Botanic Gardens Inc President Denby Browning said the change reflects a strong desire by the organisation to emphasise that the Gardens are truly regional and that they are deeply embedded in Tamborine Mountain while being an important part of the entire Scenic Rim. "We are pleased that the name reflects our wide appeal across a broad community while prominently retaining the name Tamborine Mountain," he said. "The name may appear long, but the committee felt that it had to encompass three important elements: Tamborine Mountain, Scenic Rim and the fact we are a regional Garden. "A substantial part of our funding each year comes from ratepayers across the entire Scenic Rim and it is important that everyone from Eagle Heights to Aratula feels a sense of ownership. "The Gardens are registered with Botanic Gardens Australia and New Zealand Inc (BGANZ) as a regional botanic garden. "It is unfortunate that a few people chose to speculate and misinform the community about the process and the final decision. We would prefer that all people interested in the activities of the Botanic Gardens contact members of the committee for details before making public statements. "We look forward to continuing our task to constantly improve the Gardens for the entire community. Of course, we welcome new volunteers whether they come from our immediate community or further away. We already include Members from as far away as the Gold Coast and Aspley in Brisbane. We hope that more concerned members of our local community also put their hands up to help build the future of the Gardens."

17.01.2022 Last Thursday the Botanic Gardens were inundated by floodwater. Some of you may have seen the dramatic video of the intersection of Eagle Heights Road and Geissmann Drive! This is what the Gardens looked like that day, the stone bridge almost entirely submerged - and there are two lakes under there somewhere. Our volunteers returned today to begin clean-up. The second photo is just a part of the material our volunteers - just 25 of them - pulled out of the gardens in four hours of sweltering work. A fantastic group of people.

14.01.2022 The amazing team of volunteers at the Gardens took a few minutes out of a busy Thursday for a special photo. Photographer Chris Davison carefully arranged us to ensure we were socially distanced and all in the shot. The stone bridge makes a wonderful location. Why not join us. We come together on Wednesday and Thursday mornings at the work shed beyond the toilet block. We are happy to welcome everyone and there is always plenty to do, from simple weeding to planting, tending and building. If you arrive just before 10am, you could join us for morning tea!

14.01.2022 We held our Annual General Meeting last week, elected a new committee and voted to change the name of the Gardens. The motion to change the name to include "significant reference to the Scenic Rim" while retaining the words "Tamborine Mountain" was accepted without dissent. The final structure of the name will be determined by the committee of the association. The new committee includes most members of the previous committee. Diana Fenton, Paul Marshall and Debi Marshall anno...unced their decision to stand down from the committee in the months before the meeting. The new committee includes Denby Browning (President), Margaret Pile (Secretary), Gregory Ingold (Treasurer), Brian Davison (Curator), Rob Howard, Geoff Hurling, Amrat Parbhu, Sandy Silabon and Nigel Waistell. Greg Ingold and Amrat Parbhu join the committee for the first time. Speaking to the name change motion, Denby Browning said that the Gardens are "much bigger than a local botanic garden". He said that the Gardens are registered with BGANZ (Botanic Gardens Australia and New Zealand Inc) as a regional botanic garden. "We want to tell the world that we are a significant regional botanic garden while retaining the identity with the Mountain."

12.01.2022 Please be aware that some parts of the Botanic Gardens will be closed over the next two weeks as we undertake work to repair the roadway between the lakes and the Cascades at the southern end of the Gardens. Most gardens remain accessible via the Rainforest Walk. Signs will be posted to assist you. Thank you - and please donate to our volunteer work through the yellow donation boxes around the lakes.

09.01.2022 Save the date, you know it is going to be a great day at Tamborine Mountain Botanic Gardens.

08.01.2022 The Gardens remain open for everyone every day from dawn until dusk. Please maintain social distancing and please remember to take your rubbish away with you. The Gardens are managed entirely by volunteers and we want the facility to remain beautiful for you all. Oh, and we welcome donations. There are bright yellow donation boxes around the lake area of the Gardens.

08.01.2022 As if you need another reason to visit Tamborine Mountain Botanic Gardens, this is it. The swamp cypress trees at our entrance are in glorious colour. But they won't last long. We are at 25 Forsythia Drive. A bit hard to find but worth it. Welcome, and please donate to our hard-working volunteers (hint - yellow donation boxes around the lakes).

06.01.2022 Our Sooty Owl Creekside Trail is a favourite among so many of our visitors, and especially children. Jack is the grandson of one of our volunteers and he and his Mum are happy for us to share this with you. . Thanks Jack, you are truly a "Megaboy"!...

06.01.2022 The volunteers at Tamborine Mountain Botanic Gardens will hold their Annual General Meeting in the Gardens on Thursday, August 13. The meeting of members of Tamborine Mountain Botanic Gardens Inc will begin at 11.30am in the Pavilion near the Gardens entrance. The 40 members will vote upon the audited financial report and elect a committee to steer the association through the next 12 months. Three members of the current committee have announced they will stand down at this me...eting. The association was formed in February 2019 to take over management of the Gardens from the Tamborine Mountain Garden Club.

04.01.2022 Here is another special reason for you to visit Tamborine Mountain Botanic Gardens. The zieria collina grows only on the Mountain and we have a superb example. High at the southern end of the Gardens, there is a board beside the bush explaining all about it.

01.01.2022 We are delighted to inform our visitors that the Gardens are fully re-opened following concrete repair work in a large section of our main walkway. Please enjoy the Gardens and we sincerely appreciate gold coin donations. There are four yellow donation boxes around the lakes.
