The poacher walked past him, his bare feet crushing the reeds next to the log where Mitch lay. His tread heavy. The smell of vegetation increased, but so too did the metallic smell of fresh bush meat and unwashed human bodies labouring. Sweat pumping from their bodies. The meat dripped on the path and flies immediately settled onto the drip. He stared into the red eyes of a puzi fly. Its golden body with a darker abdomen and suppressed a shudder. Just the last week he had helped one of his young antipoaching guards to pick maggots out of his stomach. "
