25.01.2022 *Biggie* would like to thank the nice tennis coach in Mutch Park for allowing him to keep the tennis ball he "found" this morning.

24.01.2022 Ahh the face of a Bulldog running with a ball in his mouth

24.01.2022 Today Casper and I met a lizard on our walk today in a local park. We both almost stepped on him as we weren't paying attention. I've never seen a dog jump quite so high when Casper spotted him. I then jumped as for a moment I thought we had stumbled on a snake. A timely reminder since the weather is warming up that snakes are likely to be more active.

24.01.2022 *Casper* finds hotter days a bit much so enjoys hanging out in the shade.

22.01.2022 *Asher* checking out who's in the neighbourhood on the breeze. Love how a dog's nose works

05.01.2022 Sometimes it seems like all you ever see is other people ‘having it easy’, while you’re trying to lose weight, get fit or whatever your goals are. The same goes... for dog training. When your dog is dragging you down the footpath or you are chasing them around the park trying to get them to come back to you, it seems like every other dog owner has a well-behaved dog. They don’t, I promise you. Everyone has their challenges and the reality is that in addition to my attempt at pie-chart comedy, the people who are really struggling with their dogs aren’t walking where you’d see them. They’re waiting until there are no people or dogs around, they’re going to quiet locations away from people or dogs, or they’re staying home, because they’re still working on their training or they know their dog’s limits. Any dog trainer will tell you that walking nicely on leash at all times and bulletproof recall can be some of the hardest things to train. I’d be the first to put my hand up and say it’s a work in progress with my girl some days too! So my advice is to make a plan based on small achievable steps, go and practice where you know your dog can succeed and reward the heck out of any progress no matter how big or small! Or get in touch with any positive reinforcement trainer who’ll show you how to help your dog walk nicely on leash and come back to you, all while thinking they’re having the best time ever! #positivereinforcementtraining See more

03.01.2022 Not only do we exercise bodies while walking, we also exercise your dog's brain. Here is Biggie searching for pieces of food placed in the bark of a tree.

03.01.2022 Happy National Dog day! Here’s to all the pups I have the pleasure of having in my life. Best. Job. Ever!

02.01.2022 WARNING to all our clients. We have received a report that a dog was poisoned with rat bait at Pioneer Park, Malabar this week. Very sadly this dog died. ... A packet of rat poison was found near to the toilet block. There is a bowl for dogs to drink from close by. It is thought that the dog drank water contaminated with the poison. Rat poison affects the body by stopping the blood from clotting. Signs of poisoning include pale gums, weakness, collapse, blood in urine or stool, bruising of the skin, lethargy and reduced appetite. Please contact Matraville Vet Practice on 1300 628 838 if you have any concerns about your pets regarding possible poisoning or any other unusual clinical signs. We sincerely hope that no other pet or family is affected by poisoning in the area but warn owners to be vigilant. Feel free to share this information with people you know with dogs in the area.
