14.01.2022 The Victorian Government today acknowledges the 50th anniversary of Victoria’s worst industrial accident, the collapse of the West Gate Bridge. At 11:50am on 15 October 1970, two years into the construction of the bridge, a 112 metre span gave way and fell into the Yarra River, killing 35 workers and leaving 18 others seriously injured. As in previous years, both the Australian and Victorian flags on top of the West Gate Bridge will be lowered to half-mast from 7am to 7pm, to... honour those who lost their lives in the tragedy and those whose lives it changed forever. 12.01.2022 Shocking new statistics show just how bad the slaughter of truck drivers was last year. During 2019, 58 transport workers were killed, up from 38 the year before. We know this statistic is still not the full picture yet the Federal Government refuses to remedy this crisis
11.01.2022 People THANK YOU! We have received so many messages of support re our motion Repair the past not only from the industry that has been treated so badly, but al...so others outside of us and across the community! This has ricocheted around the country. I would like to share just one email of support. Gidday Rod Just thought I would send you a note of thanks mate. I saw your speech on reflections , and thought yes that is something to be proud of mate and I was pleased to see you were. As for the knockers who continually try and bring you down, I just want to remind you of an old country saying we have . Yes I know you are a Stanhope boy but given you are now a suit wearing, latte sipping, city type I thought you might have forgotten it. It goes something like this, XXXX EM, it is such a simple saying it is even worth saying twice XXXX EM. What you do is valuable mate and you only have to answer to yourself and your bride, try not to forget that. I also saw the one on past injustices. This is the reason you need reminding about that country expression , it might be a loosing fight, it might be an impossible fight, but that does not make it a fight that should not be had. Unlike the many, you instead chose to do what is difficult, not because you enjoy it but because it is the right thing to do. Thank you to you and your team for doing what you do and never underestimate the effect it has on the forgotten members of this state. These are the guys who after being XXXXXX by the state leadership 3 years ago were the first to put their collective hands up and say our communities need us to stay out there, at personal risk of contracting Covid_19, to ensure people are still able to attend medical appointments and get supplies. Not that bad of a response considering how poorly they had been treated. Please do not let hindsight cloud how real the risk was in the beginning when no one knew what was really happening. Please continue the fight so that one day justice will prevail. Regards XXXXX

04.01.2022 There have been 5 delivery riders killed on our roads since September. Often they're forced to rush because of exactly this fear: being kicked off the app after... being only a few minutes late. It's appalling, and it's killing people. Amita Gupta's appeal for wrongful dismissal will be heard today in the Federal Court.
