24.01.2022 I still like the night before an adventure. Get the bikes clean. Fill them full of fuel. Give them a good check over, check the tyre pressures ( Well a 70 point check list). Make sure all GPS units are loaded with all the favourite locations. Print off the daily maps, the daily route information, the list of accommodation booked. Pick a few brochures to put in their wallet. Make sure they all get a mini bottle of hand sanitiser ( Covid n all)....Now just to finish a bit of detailing in the morning before picking up the customers from their Hotel and bring them to their bikes so they can start their adventure. #tasmania #tassie #triumph #tiger800 #bmw #r1200gs #adventure #bikeride #hire #rent #tour #enjoy

19.01.2022 Update on entry to Tasmania We just had a state of Emergency as of midnight tomorrow (Friday 20th March) so everyone then must self isolate for 14 days upon entry to Tasmania. This makes entering Tasmania and having a Holiday impossible. ( This may well be relaxed by the time of your planned Holidays but we do not know).... Its devastating for Tasmanian tourism here, but lets hope we get some sort of recovery path visible in the next few months. We certainly do not want to profit from this situation. The deposits our customers pay are normally a non refundable payment ( to cover our costs)... BUT we feel we MUST offer the following solutions..... Under these circumstances we feel we should ( and have) offered our customers a full refund on their deposits / payments up to date if that is what they prefer ? Or wait till closer to the dates to see if the temporary orders are relaxed ? Or if they are happy with taking a credit for their bookings (that would help our cashflow enormously), then when they are ready to rebook their Holiday, more than happy to honour the previous deal we agreed upon when their booking was made (and a huge thank you for supporting Tassie). For everyone that has had to cancel overseas Holidays, bike related Holidays or for those that are just dealing with life in the moment, please do the following once the dust settles. If you had plans or visit Tasmania ( renting a bike through us or ANY of the other rental companies here in Tassie) or on your own bikes, then PLEASE do so, or have conversations with us on any possible future plans. The best therapy to this situation can be planning an adventure and being positive. Take care all Phil and Christine

This BMW R1200GS is back registered, getting a detail and then take it off the trickle charger for a test ride tomorrow. 16.01.2022 HIGHWAY CLOSURE A section of the Tasman Highway near Orford will be closed for at least two weeks from 11:55pm Friday 28/05 for significant safety improvements... to overhanging rock at the edge of the road. Urgent works will be undertaken to remove several rocks at Paradise Gorge. The State Government says the road is currently safe to travel on but is concerned bad weather will worsen the situation. Motorists are advised to plan ahead and check the Department of State Growth website for more information. #nightlynews #7tasnews

09.01.2022 So the reality ( for us and many small Businesses here in Tasmania), we will be in hibernation until the new normal rises. The rental bikes are all serviced, cleaned and ready for use. Until then I can use this timeframe to get in the shed and do non business catchup work. Rewiring one of the old bikes has started and is quite therapeutic. I guess Im in no real rush. Take care everyone. Keep physically and mentally well through all this. 05.01.2022 When in ISO. Spent a couple of days emptying out the single garage and turning it into a workshop.. Had to dismantle and move/drag my old Hercus lathe out of a shipping container ( where its sat these past three years), set up a small wood router, a mini lathe, mini CNC mill and the MIG welder.. some lights going up tomorrow, then Ill start on my to do list :-)
