18.01.2022 Good Evening! What is your second biggest asset in your lifetime? Please put in your comments and we will be back tomorrow with the answer.... The second biggest asset that you will accumulate over your lifetime is your SUPERANNUATION. Thank you everyone for your participation. You are not wrong with your answers, the assets you accumulate at different life stages differ, and as your priority shifts so does your assets. I will be talking about different life stages and the things that you should know and lookout for. Today we will talk about Retirees Superannuation is the second biggest asset because people tend to focus on this asset only when they are approaching retirement. According to the Association of Superannuation Funds of Australia’s Retirement Standard, to have a comfortable retirement, single person will need $550,000 in retirement savings and couple will need $650,000. I however disagree with the standards listed above. Here are my findings: Comfortable Lifestyle at retirement: Couple: you will need at least $61,000 per year as income to live comfortable, and in order for your superannuation to generate this income you will need to have a balance of $1.5 million ( considering it will be invested with a return of 4% per year and super to last 25 years after retirement at age 65). Single: you will need at least $43,000 per year as income to live comfortable, and in order for your superannuation to generate this income you will need to have a balance of $1.05 million ( considering it will be invested with a return of 4% per year and super to last 25 years after retirement at age 65).
