25.01.2022 This is excellent news. What a shame the Katter party reps for the electorates of Hinchinbrook, Hill and Traeger voted against it. What exactly are they afraid of?
25.01.2022 That light on the hill was smashed a long time ago. Presumably, it's buried deep in a coal mine owned by a billionaire donor to the Labor Political Party. Or maybe its sitting brokenly in a tax-haven for the zottarich somewhere.
20.01.2022 Our local team had a great time at Cardwell Jetty Markets this morning. We chatted with mine workers who are pissed off with wage inequalities in their sector, people concerned about dodgy public-private agreements, and the dire need for local manufacturing opportunities. Whatever their backgrounds, people firmly agree that increased mining royalties should be used to fund better essential public services like health, housing and education, rather than lining the pockets of mining billionaires.
20.01.2022 How about instead of giving a very small number of wealthy people money for a posh kitchen we create 20,000 construction jobs a year building more public housing 39,000 people are on the waiting list for social housing here in Queensland. And that’s before the worst of the recession takes a grip. Queenslanders need jobs and they need homes. We'll make big banks and massive mining corporations pay their fair share to build 100,000 public homes over four years.... What's not to like?
19.01.2022 Yo, I'll tell you what I want, what I really, really want So tell me what you want, what you really, really want I'll tell you what I want, what I really, really want
18.01.2022 Both Labor and the Libs have colluded to silence inconvenient truths. Why would they do that?
18.01.2022 One of these things is not like the other.

15.01.2022 Parents and carers with kids at public schools know that education often still isn't free, especially in under-resourced rural and regional areas like ours. Do you pay any extra fees or have any extra costs? We need your help! Public education should be free, but the reality is parents pay thousands of dollars in extra fees and costs just to send their child to a Queensland state school.... Queensland schools are some of the most underfunded in Australia and parents have to pay the cost. Help us understand exactly how much parents in Queensland have to pay for a state school education. 15.01.2022 It's only just beginning. Imagine the kind of Queensland we could have if we made the big banks, the fossil fuel industry, and multinational corporations finally pay their fair share back to the people. If you like our ideas, sign up, get involved, or join our movement to help make them happen this election.
14.01.2022 Unlike the Mareeba, Douglas, Cassowary Coast, Cairns, Hinchinbrook or Charters Towers Regional Councils, the Tablelands Regional Council has failed to commit to the (free!) Climate Resilient Councils program of the Local Government Association of Queensland (LGAQ). Astonishingly, it seems the Tablelands Regional Council still has absolutely NO climate change action, mitigation or adaptation strategy. Why? Tablelands Action Alliance has circulated a petition to press TRC to get on board. Sign and circulate widely. http://chng.it/WWRNXr7zxy
13.01.2022 Booth kit delivery is always an adventure! But we still need your help for prepoll and Election Day. If you’re ready to help our movement get in touch: www.greens.org.au/qld/volunteer... 09.01.2022 Hung parliaments can be powerful The question that Labor will have to answer after October 31st is whose side are they on, Mr Berkman says. Are they on the side of the Queensland Resources Council or are they on the side of ordinary Queenslanders who just want mining corporations to pay a fair share in royalties
06.01.2022 Queensland is a wealthy state. Kids should not be going to school hungry. The Greens will make mining corporations pay their fair share in royalties, and we'll use the extra money to fund a free healthy breakfast and lunch program in every single Qld state school. Now is the time to build a better future for ordinary Queenslanders... More: http://michaelberkman.com.au/freelunch
03.01.2022 There cannot be more than 400 black deaths and no justice. There cannot be 432 victims and no perpetrators. There has never been a conviction over an Aboriginal death in custody in this country.
02.01.2022 Our region already struggles and is way under resourced. It stinks that the doctors, nurses and other staff in our public health system are being told to do more and slash services to make Labor's election promise viable. We shouldn't have to choose between no new doctors and nurses or $1 billion in health cuts while mining corporations have exported a whopping $480 billion in resources over the last decade. If you think it's time that mining billionaires were made to pay their fair share to fully fund our public hospitals and hire 9,500 more nurses and doctors this time, vote Greens.
02.01.2022 BREAKING: Our plan to revive manufacturing in Qld and create 19,500 regional jobs a year: Build a new public solar panel factory in Townsville, manufacturing 250MW of solar panels per year by 2023 Build a new public wind turbine factory in Rockhampton, manufacturing 250MW of wind turbines per year by 2023 Build a flagship green steel manufacturing plant in Gladstone... Require 60% of all solar panels and wind turbines be sourced from Qld Set up a $1 billion fund to help kickstart manufacturing projects Paid for by increasing royalties on mining corporations, levying the big banks and taxing developers, raising an extra $68 billion.
