18.01.2022 And that wraps up day 3 of the UEBC 2019! Amazing weekend learning from the best in the biz
03.01.2022 I’m sure I’m not the only one that has played the bank account gamble game at the end of the month You know, the one where you go to swipe your card at the till with fingers crossed, hoping it will be approved after not checking your bank account all week. You know payday is close, just a few more days to go. It’s probably fine Hang in there bank balance...... Many also do this for progress in and out of the gym. Blindly following a plan, eat alright, but are any positive steps being made forward? The same way we have digits displaying our financial situation, we have numbers that can work for our fitness goals too. Knowing these will mean we can consistently improve in whatever it is we want to achieve Want to get stronger? Is the weight on the bar increasing? Want to lose fat? Is the scale or waist size going down? Want to make gains? Are the number of reps increasing? Want a faster 10k? Is the time taken decreasing? Problem is more often than not, we play the bank account gamble game with our health and fitness too. And I know a lot of people might not have specific goals, but it’s good to see progress in anything we do making us more consistent and happier in the fact we are on the right track. You can make progress by winging it for sure, but when you stop seeing things change, what do you do? Having some measurables in place means we have more control, we can adjust to see improvement on a regular basis and thus keeps us more enthused. This doesn’t mean we have to scrutinise over every little detail that brings added pressure. Just the key things that make the biggest difference Not getting stronger? Maybe a change in the programme is needed Not losing fat? Some dietary changes are required Not making gains? A de-load could be on the cards Run times not decreasing? Maybe some added gym work could help As you can see, keeping an eye on things lets us react and make the changes necessary to continue improving, make sure the time and effort we are putting in is going to good use The same way a budget each month helps us avoid the bank account gamble (It's not even a fun game! )
