18.01.2022 We are very proud to announce that Tocal Rotaract is supporting @PolishedMan this October! Why? Because 1 child dies every 5 minutes as a result of violence. That’s one too many. We are kickstarting our fundraising now. Please support if you can. #nailedit #polishedman2020

18.01.2022 One billion children experienced violence in the last year alone - that’s half the world’s children. Polished Man challenges men and women to paint one nail during October to raise awareness and funds and help end violence against children. We are very proud to announce Tocal Rotary Connect is supporting @PolishedMan this October! Why? Because 1 child dies every 5 minutes as a result of violence. That’s one too many. Paint a nail blue and wear it with pride and when people a...sk why you have one painted nail, tell them about this campaign that is taking place throughout October all around the world. Painting a nail doesn’t end this issue, but we know that a single painted nail sparks conversations. Conversations that inspire donations. Donations that allow for trauma recovery and trauma prevention for children around the world. If you would like to make an online donation, please head to the Tocal Rotaract donations page. https://my.polishedman.com/dashboard

13.01.2022 As we see COVID-19 cases in NSW increase, it’s a major concern that young people aged 18 35 years are at greatest risk of contracting COVID-19, and less likely to get tested. Although most young people who get COVID-19 won’t become seriously unwell, they may easily spread it to family, friends and workmates. Increasing the testing rates of young people will continue to be vital in our fight against COVID-19 in NSW. In a move to encourage more testing of young people, the Centre for Population Health is encouraging young people to post on their preferred social channel videos like the one below with the hashtag #Itest4NSW and share with their family and friends. Please encourage others and share this widely. #Itest4NSW

12.01.2022 Tocal staff and students got together Friday 28th August to acknowledge RUOK day a bit earlier than the rest of the Nation. Our Cert IV cohort were about to finish up and it was important they were included in this event. The Tocal Rotaract group organised the drone footage of everyone creating the shape of RUOK and enjoyed a BBQ. Students gave speeches about the importance of both "RUOK day" and "Wear it Purple Day". HUGE thank you to Adam Caddy for capturing these pics.

10.01.2022 Today we can finally welcome back meetings of the Tocal Rotaract group. Students involved organise and deliver fundraising initiatives and plan student social events. Last year we raised over $5000 for the World's Greatest Shave and also raised over $3500 in a trivia night for drought relief. We took on Hunter Trade College in Maitland in a blood feud to see which College could donate the most blood to Red Cross Lifeblood. We won by 1 donation! We also held a few social events such as a UV party and State of Origin nights. Getting involved counts towards community service in your time at Tocal and is well regarded by both the College and future employers. Our group are supported by Rutherford/Telarah Rotary Club. Today's meeting will be 4:30pm, bottom of the library. See ya there!
