24.01.2022 Happy 60th Wedding Anniversary Mum & Dad
23.01.2022 , ' I'd met Marlyn and Alf a few months earlier; sadly at the celebration of the life of a friend's mum that I did last August. When they called and asked me to be the celebrant at their wedding I was delighted. ... It was especially joyful to gather with them, their family and friends again and this time to officiate their special day. Both having been married before, Marlyn and Alf wanted a simple, laid back ceremony yet one with heart and most importantly with those they care about with them. So we tweaked the ceremony a tiny bit and voila, it was perfect. With a beautiful bush backdrop, a curtain of twinkling lights at his daughter's house, Marlyn and Alf said 'I do'. We even Facebooked the ceremony live to Marlyn and Alf's family overseas, creating a way to include them into the ceremony too. And when asked if those present always promised to stand by and support Marlyn and Alf in their marriage it was met with cheers, whistles and a chorus of '' from right around the globe Marlyn and Alf's friends and family made the day just gorgeous; from the decorations and balloons to the cake, a bouquet for the flower girl and buttonaire for the groom, and the wedding banquet that everyone put together was simply divine. 20.01.2022 Today I was delighted to spend time with Mel Noonan of Funeral Photography by Mel Noonan. Mel's been a photographer for ages under her business @Mel Noonan Creative, and has recently turned her her atistry to capturing memories at times when we so need them. Mel captures poignant moments, reconising the love in death in a discrete, non-invasive way. ... She also captures those incredibly valuable moments thst we spend with loved ones whilst they are in palliative care. One of the most precious photos I have is of my best friend, her daughters and myself, not long before we turned her life support off in ICU. The memory is sad, yet I look at it and I see love. It was a part of her life story, and mine. This month of love, she's offering a limited number of bespoke photoshoots as a gift to celebrate love, life and build her portfolio. If this is something that may be of value to your family, please reachout to Mel

15.01.2022 Attended a dear friend's mum's funeral yesterday. All social distances kept. We listened to the service on the outdoor speakers. ... The smile on the faces of our friends as they exited the chapel and saw we were all there "with" them, was so special. #CalmLove #AllInThisTogether #BeingCareful Xo
14.01.2022 . I was incredibly honoured to officiate the funeral of Glyn Mawby, and humbled that he specifically asked for me to perform his service. You see, I first met Glyn last August, when I undertook his mum’s funeral. Just shy of seven months to the day later, Glyn joined his mum on his next adventure.... I’d met Glyn twice more since that meeting once when I visited his upstairs neighbours last October. He invited me in for a chat and showed me the treasures and trinkets he’d kept from his life; the things that help special meaning and memories for him. The final time I saw and spoke with Glyn was his friend’s wedding in November. He was their witness, I was their celebrant. We had a wonderful chat and laugh that day. Even though we only crossed paths three times, he generously let me see a tiny glimpse on the man, son, brother, father, uncle and grandad he was. It was such an honour to bring his story to life and to help put the finishing touches to the tapestry that was his life story. To weave the memories of his life, his trinkets and how they fit into who he was, to his children continuing their grandparents tradition of toasting each other and sharing a tipple ( ) in honour of dad, everything was heart-centred on family, connection and being true to the person Glyn was. To his children, his grandchildren, sisters, dad and friends thank you for welcoming me into your world and allowing me to create Glyn’s celebration of life. Thank you deeply for the trust you put in me; I can only hope that I have made it a little easier to bear this latest goodbye. As a celebrant, there is no greater satisfaction than in knowing I’ve done what I needed to do, and that those attending a service have been able to reflect on the life that is being celebrated. ‘That was perfect; an amazing service; the best service I've attended; thank you’. I heard those words over and over on Friday when I accepted an invitation from Glyn's family to attend his wake, because 'Dad would have liked that'. There were tears, there were hugs; there was laughter. There was a sense of being together. And above all, to have been specifically requested and to have been trusted so much by Glyn to create what it was needed to turn the page and close the book on your life here, my deepest and most since gratitude. Thank you for allowing me to share your story. Rest in Peace Glyn

13.01.2022 So fitting after this last weekend of playing in the mud and dancing in the rain. Tomorrow is promised to no one. Live today. Use the good crystal glasses ... Wear your good perfume daily - I learned this lesson early Take chances - step out there, do something different, experience life Ask for things you want - after all, nothing ventured, nothing gained Smile at strangers Be kind Let go of grudges and past hurts - trust me, your subject has long ago moved on Cultivate gratitude Tell people who matter that you love them Live today; being alive really is a grat reason to celebrate.

12.01.2022 POPPING THE QUESTION February is the month of LVE. There are so many creative ways to 'pop' the question. I wonder what yours was?... Did you know that once-upon-a-time-ago (not so very long ago at all really) it was said to be a 'thing' that the 29th of February was the one day a woman could ask her 'fella to marry her, rather than wait for him? It's true! I knew this when I was young and eager to marry my now husband. We'd been together since just before my 16th birthday, and by my 20th year, no question. It was time. For 29 Feb 1990, I planned a day doing things we both enjoyed with the intent of 'popping' the question at some romantic point in the afternoon. You know: sunset, sharing a moment...all that stuff. It never happened. I got quite sunburnt on 29 Feb 1990. In the twilight of our lovely day, and being reminded quite painfully of my failure to reapply sunscreen, there was no question popping in sight. It wasn't a particularly romantic eveming. It would be another five years before that question was asked - and not by me :-) Is there an 'almost' in your story? Who asked who, and how? Would love to hear your experience

11.01.2022 A wonderful reminder...
11.01.2022 As the clocked shifted from 11:59pm to 12:00, midnight, a few big, wholesome tears slid down my cheecks this morning. No sobs, just big old tears. Three years and counting. I often speak of "The Missing" when I do a funeral service. Those parts of us that we gift to others. The parts - the love - that our loved ones take with them when they pass.... So much of me went with you three years ago. So quietly. The only change was your head pressing just that little bit harder into my hand, as you passed from this world to the next. I've filled my "missing" with so many memories - the great, the hilarous, the good, the bad, and the utter heartache of your last few years. It's all part of our story. I miss you. I always will. I guess our 50ths in a few weeks will be weird. They certainly won't be as we'd planned. It's now 36 years since we met. My gosh we've has some good and terrible times. I'm so blessed to have been with you to the end; even more so to have been given the honour of doing your funeral. I've trekked and travelled, scattered some of your ashes in the himalays so you always see sunrises over the moutains, some of you is in the Ganges, some in the azure waters of the Simillian Islands, and a whole lot of you in your fave place, the Gold Coast seaway. You're free and no longer hurting. Travel where the currents take you, and I'll see you round, my friend. Love You
