20.01.2022 Beautiful Sydney town
19.01.2022 The other day i decided to do what i haven't done for ages and that is to just play with a roll of film and develop it myself. For those interested in details, they were taken on a Mamiya RZ67 with a 110mm lens loaded with Ilford FP4 film
19.01.2022 Question for all of my followers. As a lot of you know i am part of a group in Manuka called 'photo access'. As part of the group they run 2 members exhibitions per year with a particular theme. The theme for this upcoming exhibition is 'shapes'. Do people think that this image fits that theme?
18.01.2022 A couple of weeks ago a family friend contacted me to tell me that she had been given a box of old camera gear which she didn’t particularly want. A couple of times previously people have offered me gear only for it to end up being unusable. This time I was surprised to find this beauty with another canon body plus a nice selection of lenses. I’ve just loaded a roll of Ilford Delta 400 in so I can test her out this week but early indications are good

16.01.2022 I took this photo of my friend Deb today when we caught up for lunch. When I got home I showed to another friend and asked them to guess which camera and lens this was taken with, she guessed my Canon 6D with the 100-400mm L series lens. However in fact this was taken with my iPhone 11 which I purchased last week. It got me thinking and somewhat scared that only recently you would need a large sensor camera and a large aperture lens to get that sort of result especially with the background blur. But now because of software and processing power you can get a similar result with a tiny sensor and tiny lens. I’m not sure if this is good or bad for photography as an industry.
16.01.2022 This is the first edit of many photos of my FNQ trip

12.01.2022 Tomorrow I head off on a trip to England, Scotland and Ireland. A lot of my ‘happy snaps ‘ will be on my personal Facebook page however as the trip progresses I’ll try to get some fully edited shots up on here. I have several ideas for photos along the way.

09.01.2022 Photography wise this has been a somewhat frustrating year. I managed to get a couple of shoots early in the year but haven't really done much since. However one of the shoots earlier in the year taught me some valuable lessons. A colleague of mine approached me to photograph her family as her daughter was unwell. At the time of the shoot i didn't think much of it as everyone was happy and having fun. On Tuesday this week Tanya lost her long battle with cancer aged 40. Altho...ugh i hadn't had a huge amount to do with her in recent years it still hit me hard because I'm close to her mother plus Tanya was briefly my personal trainer back in the day so my main memories of her was as being fit and healthy. Today i was able to deliver some prints from that shoot to her family. On a personal level it has been tough having a friend pass away especially this close to Christmas however as a photographer I've come to realise how important it is to create memories. I can't believe that I'm saying this but to some extent i encourage you to use your camera phone or whatever camera you can get your hands on because you never know if the photos you are taking will be the last memories captured of your loved onesIm sad because someone who i know and the daughter of a dear friend passed away but i'm glad that i was able to create to lasting memories of their family time together. Sending lots of love and prayers out to Lesley Gendle, Jason Gendle and the rest of the family. See more
09.01.2022 I’m posting now to give an honest update about my photography. This year I’ve really been struggling with my photography, that is probably mostly due to my mental health but also I’ve been preoccupied planning a trip and a lack of projects to enthuse me. I’ve realised that I’m not going to make it as any form of professional and therefore I probably won’t be going out of my way to get ‘clients’ again. I might have a couple of projects coming up including an album cover but th...at is still very much up in the air. I’m traveling to the UK in September and hope to get some photos from there which I will post here, but otherwise my posts will probably be restricted to occasional pictures that turn out ok. On another note I am seriously thinking of purchasing a drone next year which could provide some fun opportunities however it would just be a hobby thing. See more

05.01.2022 Port of Kennacraig
05.01.2022 From a sightseeing point of view i was not happy with the weather on my day at Magnetic Island. However cloudy skies can create some interest in a shot.
05.01.2022 I’ve decided that next year I am going to try to produce a calendar with my work. At this stage I’m looking at a Canberra and surrounding region theme. However I’ve realised that there are so many calendars around with photos of Parliament House etc, so my aim is to avoid the cliche shots and be a bit more obscure and random. Has anyone got any suggestions of places/scenes that could be included. I’m considering some of the Brindabella area because I have a 4x4 but I’m open to any ideas.

04.01.2022 On Monday last week I decided to take an evening trip into the Australian War Memorial to photograph the display of 66000 poppies. After seeing several shots online of the display under lights i made a plan to take my tripod in and have my fun. However after arriving at the display I saw the people who were there meditating and remembering and i suddenly felt somewhat uncomfortable about photographing it. In the end I decided to be as discrete as possible which meant not usin...g my tripod. This however made it near impossible to get my planned night shots. The situation however raised a good conversation topic about wether it is always appropriate to take photographs in a location. Some places such is this display are beautiful however should that be looked at at the expense on their significance. I took this one shot of the display which i felt comfortable with before wandering around and looking at other areas. See more
