25.01.2022 The girls were loving the babies and prams today so I extended on that with a gorgeous little book called Ten Little Fingers and Ten Little Toes. I gathered up all the baby dolls onto the rug with some baby toys for them . As we read through the book we found plenty of opportunities to count to ten and we also counted the baby dolls finger and toes. Gorgeous book, dolls and girls!!! The girls also did a little sensory activity using different types of bamboo scoops to transfer the chick peas into the wooden rainbow bowls.

24.01.2022 Lachlan had finished his lunch as was just waiting to get out of the high chair when Zara came out with B1 and B2 and thought that Lachlan would like to have one . Thank you Zara for thinking of Lachlan! Showing care, empathy and respect towards others And someone else was watching on!

24.01.2022 We loved counting so much yesterday with the new resources so out they came again but this time added in the wooden numbers puzzle and our new wooden stacking cups . Parker went straight to the marbles and tiles and said Parker this one! and with that he sat down and started transferring the marbles. Zara took to the numbers puzzle where she picked up the wooden numbers and held them up for me to say each number before she founds and matched with the corresponding number on the board. Zara was able to correct complete all of the puzzle and stack up the wooden cups!! They each had a turn with all of the activities. Zara also enjoys searching for the matching tactile numbers discs where I would find a number and ask her to search for that same number to match up.

24.01.2022 We love it when the delivery man brings a box of new resources or toys!! What was in the box today? The toddlers have been learning counting so we got some beautiful wooden counting tiles with coloured wooden marbles. It seemed to be instant instant to grab a marble and place it on the tile and then take another so this was great for counting!!! Parker was excited to see a bag of something and open it up to see....more numbers.....tactile wooden discs!!! These will definitely make counting and numbers recognition more fun

23.01.2022 Im proud to say that after a few weekends and a lot of consideration in planning the new sandpit/mud kitchen is finally finished!!!! Another play space with an invitation to play Sorry parents dont expect them to come home clean

23.01.2022 This week we are celebrating and acknowledging Lunar New Year

23.01.2022 Today we revisited the hand washing and germ activities. This was great to refresh the children on their hand washing routine and have some water play on a hot day!! We used the little Montessori style hand washing station which is now being used in the bathroom all the time for hand washing as it’s just the right height for the little ones

22.01.2022 Today we welcomed Darcie back after a few months. She settled back in like she hadnt left and the two girls played well together

22.01.2022 The toddlers brought their problems solving skills to the table today to complete the beautiful new natural puzzles which arrived this week Parker would take a shape from the basket and try to find the same shape on the board and was so proud of himself as he found them. Zara has a crack at the alphabet puzzle and was able to find some of the letters all on her own. When Parker finished the shapes he sat beside Zara to help with the letters...he was able to find some letters when he was given the clue of which row they were in.

21.01.2022 This little guy is getting clever!! He got himself into the fire truck and was so proud of himself

21.01.2022 Carter is really starting to settle in to explore the environment and make new friendships

21.01.2022 Today I wanted the opportunity to introduce the children to the new eco friendly butterfly dough cutters so my planning for todays activities went in reverse. We started off by reading through The Very Hungry Caterpillar book which was accompanied by a plush caterpillar and an assortment of wooden fruit, vegetables, ice cream and cakes. The chunky wooden numbers puzzle pieces also came in handy to use as we counted the fruit through the book. The children then got t...o try out the butterfly dough cutters!!! Zara and Parker were very eager to roll out their gorgeous pink play dough which also had some tiny flowers mixed through it They each tried out various shaped cutters to produce some beautiful butterflys. To finish off they did some finger painting on a caterpillar and butterfly template. Everything was recreated to baby style for Sonny and Lachlan to introduce these little guys to some activities See more

21.01.2022 Darcie enjoyed a few activities I organised for her today as others were asleep. I put the earth coins out for her to explored and her instinct was to stack them on top of each other so I encouraged her to keep stacking until they toppled which they eventually did! Darcie was surprised to see them fall but she just started all over again. She also enjoy drawing with different tools and enjoyed drawing the lines going around and around. Some little wooden rainbow bowls had ...arrived this morning so I made use of them but teeing them together with some wooden rainbow marbles in a little colour sorting activity. After being shown what to do Darcie very quickly mastered the challenge and was able to sucessfully sort the marbles into the correct bowls. All the while she was talking to herself as she went saying different colours as she went all be it random colours. See more

20.01.2022 Today we took the opportunity to try out the new tactile letter tiles and enrich Zaras love of letters and numbers. I added some red lentils to give another sensory dimension to the activity and a cute little sensory brush with a bamboo root handle. Zara enjoyed brush the lentils off the tiles to reveal the letters and then feel the dimensional shape of the letters. She also enjoyed completing the alphabet puzzle and was quite existed to find each letter she was searching for. Zara showed interest in the letters on the abacus and would pint to ask what the letters were called. She also worked on her fine motor skills and hand eye coordination as she did some was threading wooden flowered and leaves.

20.01.2022 Just the little guys today....so cute!!! Not long and they will all be crazy toddlers doing all the activities

17.01.2022 World Bee Day Activities

17.01.2022 Today the toddlers tried out some new resources....eco friendly sustainable dinosaurs . They firstly explored the beautiful dinosaurs in the sandpit where one side has some dinosaur features and the other side it shows the name of the dinosaur. Parker picked up each dinosaur and then turned it over asked the name of each dinosaur. They also enjoyed the gorgeous wooden dinosaur puzzle where they matched up the image of the dinosaur with the body. The dinosaur stamps were very effective and looked so cool as they pressed them into the play dough as you could see the shape which looked like a fossil with the images of the bones. Finally they made a fun little dinosaur craft where they stamped their handprints along it back to create the spikes of the dinosaur

17.01.2022 This week we are going to focus on the colour blue for the toddlers still learning their colours. Its great to go around the toy room with the kids and try to find objects of textures and sizes to fill the basket and then let the children explore them. We managed to find all types of things in wood, plastic, fluffy and soft, numbers and shapes, amongst other things so there was a great variety to feel and examine. The children also did some painting in the colour blue whe...re they could use a cotton tip or just use their fingers if they like. Off topic we could not wait to try out the new wooden musical instruments and the wooden stacking board. They really loved the the bamboo xylophone which has metal tubes but wooden maraccas were so gorgeous. So much enjoyment came from something as simple as the stacking board and it seemed to be the natural thing to stack them on top of each other. This activity gave them a great opportunity to use their hand eye coordination to get the little piece of dowel into the hole. See more

16.01.2022 Lastly we finished off the celebrations with a happy birthday song, some healthy snacks (with a few not so healthy snacks thrown in), a little book called What I Love About Birthdays and some birthday presents for Parker. Alas there was no birthday cakes because the cupcakes didnt last past the decorating stage!!! The children scoffed down all the fruit, cheese and crackers and the birthday boy grabbed all the lollies before the others noticed them . Zara had brought a lovely gift for Parker which he absolutely loved and commented on everything as he examined what was in it. He also loved his play dough set which he pulled out of the box piece by piece and said wow at each with each item and of course his favourite item was the hammer.

15.01.2022 For Parkers Birthday I decided to design an activity which incorporated two of Parkers favourite thing which are play dough and excavators. This road base activity included blue play dough decorated with birthday sprinkles, some sand and some pebbles which looked so cool. The children enjoyed using the vehicles to make tracks on the play dough and transfer the pebbles and sand. They could not resist the temptation to taste the sprinkles and Parker decided to eat some play dough but was not impressed by the flavour.

15.01.2022 Today the children had a few Fathers Day inspired activities accompanied by a gorgeous book called I love Daddy every day . As always they loved scooping up the split peas to fill up the dump truck. I used the wooden tools to make impressions in the play dough which created a matching puzzle and they enjoyed poking and manipulating the play dough as well. The gorgeous little wooden car set was definitely a hit as simple things are often the best.

14.01.2022 Today we continued our colour blue theme as the children are learning to identify colours. The toddlers used their problem solving skills to find and sort out wooden sticks and Pom-poms and place them into the wooden bowl. It looked like a great idea to use the sticks to stir the Pom-poms . Extending on this activity we made some beautiful blue play dough and had a variety of different blue objects as accessories. They pressed each different objects into the dough to see what kind of impression they would make.

09.01.2022 Zara loves to play with Lachlan and will tolerate a lot from him without complaining

09.01.2022 Parker has been hammering things often lately and was using anything he could find to use as a hammer so a new wooden tool set was perfect. Some of the activities the children did were inspired by Parkers interest and he loved the new tool set! The children played with all the tool and the nuts and bolts set....they were so busy!!! I traced around all the tools on some recycled cardboard and they were able to recognise and match the image with the correct tools and what a great job they did. From there it extended to painting all the images of the tools.

08.01.2022 Families Week Activities

07.01.2022 Today Zara and Parker explored some more beautiful natural wooden resources which arrived this week. These would provide so many different opportunities for learning such as shape matching, counting, colours and cognitive. Zara tackled the shape sorting with different sizes of each shape and she did it very well. Parker was attempting some shape stacking and could also use this for counting and colours. When these work complete they used the shapes for a nesting activity. Parker always loves play dough so the children enjoyed helping to mix ingredients together and then roll it out. Again they could use the nesting shapes to press and make shape impressions on their play dough.

06.01.2022 These two little guys enjoyed getting down and dirty before nap time

05.01.2022 Today we explored feelings again by firstly reading a lift the flap book called Kindness where the children took turns to lift the flaps and help to understand that its kind to let others have their turn. They had a little treasure hunt where they brushed the sand to discover another one of our new resources called Feelings Stones and then pressed the stones into the play dough to make impressions. Zara noticed that the impressions where the same and the picture on the stone . Parker said hammer! hammer! and wanted me to get out the wooden hammers to pound the play dough

05.01.2022 For those who may have not met him yet....Carter is the latest to join us at Toddlers and Tots . Carter is 8 months old! His big brother Harvey was here a few years ago.

05.01.2022 We tried out some more awesome new sustainable two piece puzzles. These are very simple but effective and great for this age group as they can search for the matching piece of the vehicles

04.01.2022 Today we helped Parker celebrate his 2nd birthday with some birthday activities inspired by Parkers favourite things. We started off with a sensory tray of flour, sprinkles, candles and cupcake moulds which the children scooped and got messy. Parker mum so kindly sent some cupcakes to decorate and some little trays. Each child had their own tray of goodies but to be honest the majority did not make it onto the cake...they went straight into the mouth!! Some only ate the decorations, some ate some icing as well and only one ate the cupcake!! We also read The Very Hungry Caterpillars Birthday Party accompanied by the beautiful chunky wooden numbers puzzle and a wooden birthday cake. Parker and Zara were able to recognise some of the puzzle numbers and match them up correctly.

04.01.2022 Today the children made use of the new mixer set and made some delicious cupcakes (play dough) and read the cute little nursery rhyme book...Pat-a-cake Pat-a-cake . The children role played adding some flour, butter and eggs to the cake mix and mixed it up using the little mixer. Parker and Zara used their own knowledge from what they see at home to assist in their role playing. For decoration they added some real cake sprinkles to the cupcakes which made them look so delicious that the children did try to eat them!!!

04.01.2022 Knowing how much toddlers love play dough I have invested in a lot of new fun eco friendly wooden tools to enhance their experience . One of Parkers favourite things to do is play dough so he was very excited to see what a spread of equipment he had to choose from and explore. Parker and Zara loved rolling and pressing and finding out what kind of impressions they could make. Parker always enjoys hammering his play dough and by how it looked afterwards you can tell who spent more time sitting, playing and manipulating the play dough

03.01.2022 Today Parker used his hand/eye coordination and fine motor skills while he tried his hand at threading with these beautiful sustainable resources that arrived this week!!! First he tested out the build a tree and then moved onto threading tree off cuts. After trying them all he moved back to the build a tree and said I like this one! before completeing some more of this.

03.01.2022 Today Lachie had his turn to have the sandpit all to himself . He officially loves it!!! He investigated everything then threw and tasted the sand
