20.01.2022 It all starts with sensory input!

16.01.2022 And we're back! Who cant wait for their class this week?

13.01.2022 Nursery Rhymes and Fairy Tales have so many benefits for babies and toddlers. Developing language sounds and patterns. Nursery Rhymes include interesting words, sounds and rhymes that help to develop language pronunciation. They can start to hear the similarities in words and the structure of words and syllables. The structure of the stories start to teach them about the construction of texts which becomes so important later on in their literacy learning Understanding of ...concepts: painting pictures in children’s heads. Nursery Rhymes and Fairy Tales contribute to your child's creative development. It allows them to explore new vocabulary, ideas and even their fears in a safe way. Development of social routines. Lots of nursery rhymes have two parts which encourages conversational skills of turn-taking and listening which are so important for their social development. We sometimes share traditional stories through a puppet show. Retelling a familiar story in a range of formats really helps your child's understanding of the story, vocabulary and language patterns. Reading the same story over and over again is so valuable for their language development. What is your child's favourite story or nursery rhyme?

10.01.2022 Well honestly who wouldn't love seeing this right about now? Sing it girl and keep that beautiful spirit

09.01.2022 Let's talk about Kindy! Do you wonder what your child needs to know before they attend? Maybe writing their name, recognising letters, numbers, basic additions and subtractions? Nope. They don't *need* to know anything before they start. Really, everything we mentioned above comes together beautifully during kindy and reception when it's age appropriate. ... Of course, there are ways you can prepare them BUT it all revolves around two critical things: PLAY and SENSORY INPUT. When our children play they are learning & gaining so many vital skills, naturally. These include but are not limited to: taking turns/ sharing ideas/ gross motor skills/ fine motor skills/ risk assessing/ testing theories/ making up stories & games/ using imagination/ exploring things that interest them/ gravity/ co-ordination/ depth perception/ speech & language development... honestly the list goes on. In regards to sensory input this is absolutely vital to brain development and will help with: balance/ co-ordination/ emotional regulation/ listening/ sitting still/ following instructions/ being able to multi-task/ enhanced motor planning (how we plan & remember to perform the steps to make a movement happen)/ increased functional ability in everyday life! But we know you'd like to know how to give your child the opportunity to put all of the above into action. Coming to our classes covers all of the above! We introduce morning routines, social greetings, mat time and more to help your child become familiar with some of the components of kindy and gain pre-kindy skills. We are more than happy to suggest more activities and ideas that you can do too so they have a rich variety of experiences. Social, emotional and physical development are the main elements of Toddler Sense and provide your child with amazing opportunities to play more and receive the sensory input needed to organise that brain and body! These are the foundations... and the rest will come.

01.01.2022 In a rich play and learning environment like Toddler Sense, the ability to understand mathematics will take a big leap forwards. Construction toys, number rhymes, clapping and patting games, moving to different rhythms and tempos, sorting letters, threading pasta and playing with different objects and toys give toddlers numerous opportunities to absorb numbers, shapes, sizes and quantities. Sorting objects into categories is an important and very useful problem solving skill... in mathematics. It also means that the brain is processing, analysing and memorising information. Putting red, yellow, blue and green balls in their respective containers enables children to learn about colour, classification and categorisation. When toddlers play with bricks, stacking towers, boxes, tea sets and nesting cups, they learn mathematical concepts such as height, length and volume. These activites enable children to understand more complex concepts in maths, like geometry and later on, the use of standard units of measurement.
