23.01.2022 Perfect Imperfection. The Japanese have long believed that it is through the healing of the broken parts of ourselves that we create our most beautiful story. Kintsukaroi is the practice of repairing broken pieces of pottery with gold or metallic lacquer to remind ourselves of our own strength and beauty. I know this style has been done before, but our cracks are not the same. It is only through these cracks that the light may shine.

23.01.2022 This headpiece was made while teary eyed, in the weeks after we left our son at military training in August this year. I cannot imagine how hard it would have been for so many families who had to send their loved ones off to war, nor can I imagine the atrocities they themselves bore witness to. My beautiful daughter Morgan was kind enough to model this piece wearing an RAAF women’s uniform, sourced from @dookieemporium along with the miniature ribboned replica medals of her... great grandfather Private Reginald Rocky McHale, a part of the 2/3 Machine Gun Battalion enlisted in 1940. Rocky was one of many aboard ships returning in the night to the lights of Perth Harbour unarmed ( as all ammunitions were aboard a different ship ) when they were turned around and sent to Java, after arriving there they were captured by the Japanese. For three years he and countless others were forced into construction of the Burma Railway through Thailand’s Hellfire Pass, renouned for such heavy loss of life due to harsh conditions. In the last Japanese POW camp he was held captive in was approximately 250 miles out from Heroshima and soon after they heard of the bomb raid on August 6th 1945 their captors took to the jungle, bringing an end to WW2. Rocky was discharged on 29/11/1945 and returned home to Tongala, where he & his wife Elsa raised their family. He passed at age 69. The 16th of November would have marked his 103rd birthday. He is survived by his daughters Margaret, Christine & Shirley, 8 grandchildren & 17 great grandchildren. See more

Essential oils of Geranium & Bergamot with added rose petals I soaked in this delicious concoction for over an hour, skin smells & feels amazing! Once the pruniness wore off . - ... - - - I chose Bergamot & Geranium, not so much for their amazing properties, (both are very calming) but for for how they make me feel. Geranium for the years of my childhood making ‘French Perfume’ in Mr D’s drink cartons with my cousin, and bergamot for my favourite first cuppa in the morning, Earl Grey tea. See more

With such short notice I thought I’d source what I could (the gold foliage in the headpiece, the necklaces and gorgeous gown) from RedCross Echuca. Thanks Mady for coming in to take a seat a few weeks early to help me out with this look. I designed this headpiece with you in mind, and I loved how it suited you perfectly!

While I have loved being a part of the most amazing team at Hakkas Hair Design over the last 4 years, I’ve made the decision to spread my wings and fly across to 91 Nish St Echuca at the National Academy of Hair and Beauty , where I returned as a trainer in February this year. I’m excited for my new adventure, and can hardly wait to look after all of my gorgeous clients there from the 9th of July. 10.01.2022 I had so much fun working on this look for Paige, I just had to share again. Ebony & Ivory was the first spark of inspiration, then the piano keys for the headpiece & a little bling. The black & white vintage dress is around 80 years old, and I cannot imagine how treasured it may have been prior to me owning it (in the following pics )
