22.01.2022 Good morning residents, As of today, 30th July, Queensland now has 3 new confirmed cases of COVID-19, all originating from Melbourne after 2 travellers illegally travelled across the border and returned. After they visited Melbourne they travelled through Sydney up to Brisbane.... As a result of this negligent behaviour, greater Sydney will become a hotspot as of Saturday and greater restrictions across Queensland are imminent. Therefore we strongly urge all residents to remain where they are, please avoid travelling anywhere and putting yourselves at risk. Currently there are over 20 different places across Queensland where these 2 travellers may have spread the virus and so at this stage no where is safe. Please be aware if you are still going to travel to make sure you follow all procedures to avoid any penalties or fines as a result of not complying with regulations. But as we stated, it’s a lot safer to stay here then travel. 09.01.2022 BED BUG BOND CLEANING - ROOMS 9, 11, 12 & 13 ALL clothes must be washed, please come to the reception or call the manager number to get coins for the laundry machine. All other belongings must be inspected and then left outside in the sun by 8am Monday (31st August) morning. If you need help inspecting your belongings please ask for a manager.... The only thing left in the room should be the empty suitcases, rucksacks and other storage cases so that they can be spray. The rooms must be left as per the photo with nothing in them - this means no rubbish on the floor. Any room which we have to clean or remove stuff from will be charged a cleaning fee. We want to help eradicate the problem so please cooperate with us. If you have any questions please call the manager phone.

09.01.2022 *** URGENT UPDATE *** As you may be aware the COVID-19 situation is getting worse in Australia, especially in Victoria and New South Wales. Today was a record day for new cases. We are really urging all residents to avoid travelling to Sydney, Melbourne or any of the other hot spots upon check out - it is safer to stay someone low risk until the situation improves.... We also want to remind all residents the importance of washing hands properly, maintaining adequate social distance from one another, covering your mouth when coughing or sneezing and avoiding exposing yourself to risk by sharing bodily fluids or personal items. Please also all remember that at the first sign of any symptoms developing you must report it to a member of management immediately - for everyones safety. Anyone displaying symptoms will be immediately sent to the clinic for a test and put into government isolation, this is for safety of both the hostel and the wider community. We must all cooperate together to stop the spread and eradicate COVID-19. Please make sure you're staying updated and following both government and hostel regulations. 04.01.2022 * ANNOUNCEMENT * Good afternoon backpackers! We have booked our pest control company to come and treat the properties.... CENTRAL - This Thursday, 9th July until 3pm NORTH - This Friday, 10th July until 3pm We will be asking everyone in CENTRAL to place ALL their stuff outside, downstairs, near the boots, eating and smoking area. This will mean all your stuff will be outside, in the sun, and contamination chances will be minimised. All north backpackers must place their stuff under buildings 2 and 3. We will also be cleaning all the rooms at once so please make sure your belongings are clean before reentering the rooms. If you have any questions please visit the office during office hours. 01.01.2022 Good morning central backpackers, Don’t forget that tomorrow you must clear all your stuff in preparation for the clean chemical treatment taking place on Thursday (TOMORROW), starting at 6am. Later we will post online where everyone needs to put their belongings, please make sure you follow this as to ensure stuff does not go missing.... If stuff is not cleared out your room by 6am on tomorrow morning and we have to do it, you will incur a service charge. Remember to leave your luggage in the room as seen in the photo. All other items are to be removed, and all bedsheets and protectors too.
