23.01.2022 Self isolation diary: Day 1 I Can Do This!! Got enough food and wine to last a month! Day 2 Opening my 8th bottle of wine. I fear wine supplies might not last! Day 3 Strawberries: Some have 210 seeds, some have 235 seeds. Who knew??... Day 4 8:00pm. Removed my Day Pajamas and put on my Night Pajamas. Day 5 Today, I tried to make Hand Sanitizer. It came out as Jello Shots!! Day 6 I get to take the Garbage out. I’m So excited, I can’t decide what to wear. Day 7 Laughing way too much at my own jokes!! Day 8 Went to a new restaurant called The Kitchen. You have to gather all the ingredients and make your own meal. I have No clue how this place is still in business. Day 9 I put liquor bottles in every room. Tonight, I’m getting all dressed up and going Bar hopping. Day 10 Struck up a conversation with a Spider today. Seems nice. He’s a Web Designer. Day 11 Isolation is hard. I swear my fridge just said, What the hell do you want now? Day 12 I realized why dogs get so excited about something moving outside, going for walks or car rides. I think I just barked at a squirrel. Day 13 If you keep a glass of wine in each hand, you can’t accidently touch your face. Day 14 Watched the birds fight over a worm. The Cardinals lead the Blue Jays 31. See more

21.01.2022 Happy Monday everyone, here's something to make you smile, enjoy

17.01.2022 There has been a lot of discussion in the media about the possibility of the Victorian Government imposing Stage 4 restrictions in the near future if case numbers are not able to be brought under control. Several clients have contacted Tomax Logistics with concerns and queries about what that might mean for their business and logistics activities in general. Currently there is no definition in Victoria for what Stage 4 restrictions may entail. Tomax's freight advocacy group ...contacted the Victorian Department of Health today for some clarification over the department's position. Their response was to reiterate that "at this stage" the health advice remains that the next stage of lockdown is NOT necessary. Regardless of whether Stage 4 restrictions are imposed, the transport networks will continue to be allowed to operate under the "essential services" banner. Containers will be able to be moved off the wharf and delivered for unpacking. Tomax operations would not be impacted as we are 100% set up to function even if all staff are having to work from home. Currently 85% of Tomax staff are working from home already with no disruptions to services. The Tomax Logistics warehouse is a Customs bonded facility and also falls under the essential services banner, and as such our warehousing operations also will not be affected. The Victorian Government has stated that they are very mindful of the impact to business of any Stage 4 restrictions imposed, and will not be rushing to introduce further restrictions unless absolutely necessary. For further advice or information please do not hesitate to contact your account manager at Tomax on 1300 186 629.

17.01.2022 **Update on Sydney Port Congestion Surcharges** After the announcement by MSC this week to announce that they will be applying a USD 300 per TEU surcharge on containers arriving into the port of Sydney on or after the 15th September, many other shipping lines have now clambered to introduce the same or similar charges. Lines including CMA and PIL are the latest to announce a "congestion" surcharge. The travesty of these moves by shipping lines to capitalise on what is already a disastrous situation for importers and exporters is difficult to comprehend. Industry engagement is underway to attempt to stop these types of ineffective money grabbing initiatives, however government inaction remains a major roadblock. https://mailchi.mp//pil-media-notice-lss-customer-advisory

01.01.2022 **Finally - Some Good News** The Federal Government announced today that it has scrapped plans to introduce a Biosecurity Levy that has been in the works for almost 2 years. The fee, payable by all importers per consignment, was due to be introduced in July 2019, but was shelved due to industry concerns, and was to be revised after further discussion. We are happy to hear today that the levy will now be scrapped entirely in light of the current COVID-19 situation and other impacts to industry over recent times. Let's hope that importers and exporters can also find some further relief from government intervention in the continuing high charges levied by terminals and depots.

01.01.2022 This graph show every coronavirus case in June, grouped by age. And it paints a picture that I think every young person needs to see. Younger Victorians are cat...ching this virus and spreading it at a higher rate than anyone else. I know some behaviour might seem harmless a few friends over the limit, handshakes and hugs, sharing a drink and ignoring the rules. You think you won't get it you reckon you'll be alright. And I know you're probably sick of hearing about it too - of reading about it, of talking about it. You're probably tired of posts like this from people like me. And I get it, I really do. But this isn't just about you. It's about your mum and your dad, your nonna and yiayia your housemates and friends. It's about doing your bit, and helping protect those who aren't as fit and healthy as you might be. I know I say it a lot but we all have a part to play, and I really do mean that. Talk to your friends, inform your family help stop this getting any worse. I'm not trying to lecture you, or sound like your dad either and this isn't about blaming young people. But the fact is that this virus is infecting the strong, and debilitating the vulnerable. It's a global issue, it affects everyone - and young Victorians have a unique opportunity to do something about it. So please don't let this opportunity pass. Call it out, do your bit and stay apart.
