12.01.2022 Thank you for sharing this beautiful lettering piece @wayneatf It all started with a sketchbook and some Tombow brushpens. I had been toying for a while with the idea of developing a signpainter type style in brushpen, and I used a series of contradictory phrases to test the idea. I have about 40-50 of these in my sketchbook, and Ill post them in groups over time. They explore not just the lettering style, but methods of layering, shadowing and embellishment traditionally ...employed by signwriters. Little did I know at the time, but this experiment became the source of my Masters of Type Design thesis at @uortypography . I reimagined the lettering style of signpainter casuals into a digital font with multiple colour layers, and eventually cut it in chromatic wood type and produced some letterpress prints.
