16.01.2022 Mr. Manji Suzuki, Chairman & Founder of Suzuki Musical Instrument Mfg. Co., Ltd, passed away peacefully at the age of 97 on August 21, 2020. He was a lover of H...armonica, with a passion to bravely challenge new horizons; and applied this philosophy to his life-long, deep commitment to innovation and excellence in the manufacture of musical instruments. His vision, guidance and dedication live on in all our efforts. He started building harmonicas and in 1952 founded Suzuki Musical Inst. Mfg. Co., Ltd. and achieved a unique position in the Japanese market for musical instruments. Later he founded several other companies all in relation of the production and sales of musical instruments. In the late 1980s Mr. Suzuki purchased the famous Hammond and Leslie Brands. His goal to bring the Hammond B-3 to the next century did lead not only to the development of this instrument but brought the world a whole series of beautiful musical instruments and started a renaissance of Hammond. Mr. Manji Suzuki established not only a unique position for the Suzuki and Hammond instruments in Japan, but he had an open eye for the world and his network reaches all over the globe. So many creative artists, professional musicians and home players are indebted to him. The Suzuki Family and all our Teammates sincerely appreciate the kindness and respect you have shown during his life. A private funeral was held by the family members on August 24.

15.01.2022 Vale Chris Wilson, king of the contemporary Australian power blues harp, songwriter and singer par excellence. Chris also often played sax or guitar. From his own groups Skronkadoodledoo, Chris Wilson and the Spidermen, Chris Wilson Band, The Pub Dogs, Crown of Thorns, Harem Scarem, duos with Michael Pollitt, Geoff Achison, and Diesel, contributions to Hunters & Collectors, X, Paul Kelly & The Coloured Girls, Chris Bailey, and many more, plus nine solo albums, Chris Wilsons r...ich voice, incomparable harmonica playing and generous character made him a lighthouse in the Australian blues scene and beyond. His 9th album, Live At The Continental is a recording that remains a beacon for so many aficionados. The first time I came across it, shivers ran up my spine as he showed me something more to aspire to with a blues harp in our music scene. It still does. A decade later, with the mercurial Shane OMara at Lizottes, Kincumber, I really saw what he could do, hulking on stage like Dickens Magwitch come alive, . He sang awhile, songs crafted of heartbreak and beauty, pulled a harmonica out of his torn khaki shirt pocket and set the whole place on fire. Maybe a decade later, I watched him do it again at the final ill-fated Coastfest in an impromptu performance of sheer harp power and virtuosity in which he and guitar maestro Jeff Lang pushed each other beyond the realm of instrumental reality while the sky and the crowd erupted around them in thunderous accolade. Today the sky is surely crying for Chris Wilson (1954-2019) - the stuff of legend. See more

04.01.2022 Hallett/Flood thanks Dave and gang at Bobs Burgers & BBQ for a quiet but unusual gig and a good feed from a boggling, heartstopping menu.. With 50 to 100 punters passing through, it was actually a pretty good turnout, though no more than 2-12 at a time. The decor was all Memphis memorabilia, musical and historical, photographic and mural, but the large feller with his big, hairy bum hanging out his tracky daks, pointed right at us for most of the gig, was all Penrith. Ambience is in the eye of the beholder but Bobs has to be a winner on more than the award-winning burgers. Hope to see yall next year with even more Americana - and more banjo, Bobs B&B.

02.01.2022 Here it is again, harpers. After a year the mercurial Mitch Graingers revolutionary rack mic is $70 below target on Kickstarter with 5 days left to pledge to get one considerably cheaper than proposed retail. Rack players especially. Production starts in December. I pledged. Lets rev him across the line in style. This thing will revolutionise no-hands playing. http://dyna-mic.com/
