25.01.2022 The Royal Society of Chemistry’s journal, Analyst, publishes break through hemaPEN study. A study published this week conducted by the University of Bologna Italy has found that hemaPEN only collects a volumetrically accurate and precise samples even when efforts are made to over or underfill the device. According to Researcher Dr Michele Protti said "The original methodology developed in this work proved to be a promising tool for volumetric sampling of capillary whole blood from patients undergoing pharmacological treatment with central nervous system (CNS) drugs. https://pubs.rsc.org//c/articlelanding/2020/AN/D0AN01039A
24.01.2022 https://www.linkedin.com//trajan-scientific-and-medical_gc Over the past five years Trajan has invested heavily in developing "best in class" designs and production processes for components and consumables used in gas chromatography. Any part of a GC system that touches the sample is where we want to be; that delivers impact on result quality that delivers better information to a world striving to see science benefit people. #gaschromatography #environmentaltesting #environmentalconsulting #environmentalhealth #foodtesting #metabolomics
24.01.2022 https://www.facebook.com/TED/videos/2424366101188560 A 5 min excerpt from a TED talk that might help some of us better understand a different view of the world, how it is experienced, how it is communicated and how that needs to change.
17.01.2022 Despite the spin the fact is this virus does discriminate, "COVID-19 mostly kills the elderly, especially if they have an existing chronic disease. That is not an argument to let them die but it should guide government responses. The debate is not between what we are doing and doing nothing. It should be about what response delivers the greatest good for the greatest number. The Victorian solution punishes the many for the few." And my bet is that many of those older, wiser, caring "few" would actually not want this solution.
17.01.2022 A week out from the election it seems appropriate to review my thoughts captured in this article four years ago; "in a democratic society it really is an obligation and responsibility to vote."
16.01.2022 I read and can appreciate the various legitimate concerns. As a manufacturing exporter the vast majority of Trajan's customers (95%) are not in Australia. If the Australian government continues to ban us from visiting our customers and ban our customers from visiting us, what course of action do you think I will be forced to take? A practical, safe system has to be put in place; Australia cannot survive as an isolated island.
10.01.2022 Al Fresco Meetings At Trajan’s Ringwood facility in Melbourne Australia we are building Al Fresco meeting rooms where staff can de mask and meet outdoors in a COVID safe way, (as long as Melbourne’s unpredictable weather allows!)
10.01.2022 Who am I? I thought I was an Australian citizen but it seems I’m actually a subject of the State of Victoria. In a pandemic my Head of State is absent, 17,000km away. My Federal Government seems irrelevant. Meanwhile my local State government, elected by only a few million voters, has demonstrated the power to imprison innocent people in their homes, shutdown livelihoods, impose curfews and arrest people for comments made on social media. So I must wonder; what are the limits... of this power? What extreme new rule imposed by the State would it take for society to say no, you’ve gone too far? And most importantly if that point was reached to whom does society raise their concerns? Who has the power and duty to intervene? What is the safety valve? The Queen of England? Without passing judgement on the merits of decisions being made in the response to the pandemic, where and how those decisions are being made should pose questions to all Australians about our system and structure of government and what it means to be Australian. 10.01.2022 It’s now 27,000 Australians stranded, 4,000 now classified as vulnerable and some being referred to homeless shelters.
09.01.2022 We are a manufacturing exporter employing nearly 300 staff in Melbourne. Thus far we have received no assistance from any Australian government during this pandemic. Now we will be forced by the Victorian government to lose another 300 man days, (plus pay penalty rates to catch up on following days), costing circa $100K as we battle through this difficult time. How else can this stupidity be described other than irresponsible?
08.01.2022 https://www.linkedin.com//aumanufacturing_australias-niche Collaboration is core to the Trajan global business model and this brief article is shared in that spirit. If you're a manufacturing SME seeking global expansion I hope it is of value to you. Feel free to message me directly to discuss further. #collaboration #strategy #manufacturing
07.01.2022 https://www.linkedin.com//trajan-scientific-and-medical_pa Trajan growing our partnerships and collaborations as we pursue best practice in science that benefits people
07.01.2022 I can only agree with their position and hope a more considered and balanced strategy is adopted.
07.01.2022 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AJx_tXSiTTE In today’s COVID impacted world we are delivering science that benefits people. We are a provider of key technology to leading Pharmaceutical companies and research organizations around the world as they pursue the development of treatments and vaccines while at the same time we are enabling safe remote accurate blood micro-sampling for the most vulnerable in our community. Today more than ever before we are delivering on our vision. We are TRAJAN.
05.01.2022 https://www.smh.com.au//60-000-more-people-may-have-had-co No surprise here. Aligned with findings in the rest of the world the presence of virus exposure in the population is an order of magnitude greater than test results indicate. Most showing no symptoms.
03.01.2022 https://www.sbs.com.au//these-are-the-faces-of-desperate-a Did I hear the news correctly? It spoke of foreigners coming to Australia to play cricket, to play tennis, while more than 20,000 Australian citizens are blocked by their own government from coming home. Over 3,000 of those stranded are now classified as vulnerable for health or financial reasons.
03.01.2022 In a polarized world what if we can’t see the Mother-in-Law? Many of us have seen this picture before. Reportedly it first appeared on an 1888 German postcard and was later published with the title "My Wife and My Mother-in-Law." It highlights that people can have a common observation but form a different view about what they have seen. Our views of the world are highly influenced by the information we receive and the people with whom we interact. From cable news networks thr...ough to social media feeds and our selection of friends, we select those sources often based on what we want to hear, and have reinforced, as being the truth. In the United States right now we have over 140 million voters who have acted upon their view; almost split down the middle about what they believe to be true. Half see the wife, the other half see the Mother-in-Law. Each finds the others view to be untrue because from their perspective it is untrue. We all are confronting a challenge now; how do we help enough of those 140 million people see both women? It is essential that we do so to build a momentum towards a UNITED States, away from a highly polarized DIVIDED States, of America. The world needs an America that is united, that leads, that demonstrates that no matter how different our views might be each can be respected and debated without threatening the well being of the other. Wife’s and Mother’s-in-Law can get along, it just takes the tolerance and the time to discover all the things they have in common, that brings them together, rather than just focussing on those things that pull them apart.
