22.01.2022 If you have a wood heater, put this on your to-do list for the warm weather: Wood heaters operate best when wood is completely dry and well-seasoned, so buy your wood in Spring or Summer and store it under cover in a dry, well ventilated area. Wood stored on pallets or in a criss-crossed fashion allows air to circulate freely.

10.01.2022 So pretty isn’t it? Actually it’s not it’s legionnaires bacteria. To prevent bacteria growth, particularly legionnaires, hot water should be set at a minimum of 60C in your hot water unit cylinder, and then regulated for your bathing outlets, through the tempering valve, to between 38C 50C .... It’s very important to note that our regulations state that hot water temperatures must not exceed 50C at outlets that are used for bathing. The recommended setting for very young children is 37C 38C. Hot water scalding is not something you want to have to deal with. If you are in doubt about your hot water unit’s temperatures, don’t take any chances. Give us a call and we can set things up safely for your peace of mind.

01.01.2022 When all else fails, slap a bit of cardboard on and silicone it up (apparently)! Unfortunately, we see a lot of dodgy workmanship. We were called out to do a routine heater service in Torquay recently and we came across this little ripper. The return air cover plate on the ducted heating unit had been replaced by a piece of cardboard, siliconed and screwed to the side!! Um, my children would know better - and a tradesperson DEFINITELY should know better....
