25.01.2022 When the kids were little there was always much excitement if the swamp paddock got wet enough to run off across the track; the water snaking it's way down to the dam. They'd make little leaf boats and race them across the track. Whilst the kids might not be out playing in the puddles this morning, the frogs certainly are. It's a chorus of frogs croaking and bird song. And, look at that shade of green in paddock behind ... 23.01.2022 CAN YOU HELP HARRY??? Many of you who have visited the farm will have met our son, Harry. Whether you've visited for the day and he's assisted with your purchases from our Farm Larder, or you've stayed on the farm and met Harry whilst he's helping Dave out at the dairy, most of our visitors will have had the absolute pleasure of meeting our fabulous Harry (come on, I'm his mum ) at some stage. During the time that Harry has been studying Mechanical Engineering at QUT, we've... welcomed a lot of engineers to our farm through farm stays and day visits. Many of you have offered some work experience for Harry when the time comes. We'd really love to be able to take you up on the offer, if you are able to assist. Harry is in his final year at Uni and with just a few months left before graduating, he's looking for up to 21 days work experience. It can be a mix of different employers and experiences, or done all at once. He's really hoping to get a bit of real world experience to add to his Uni knowledge. The MotorSport program at QUT has been a fantastic experience for Harry and he's taken on a number of leadership roles within the program including Chassis and Ergonomics Lead. Harry's the quiet achiever - always determined to get the highest result and not afraid to work as hard as he needs to make that happen. If you think that you or someone you know may be able to offer some experience for Harry, we'd love to hear from you.

21.01.2022 Nesting... We often hear people talk about women 'nesting' soon before giving birth but this is really nesting!! Olina has built a beautiful, soft nest for her babies to be born in. She worked on it for some time this morning, making trip after trip to the round bale and back to her shelter. By the end it was piled high with hay and she's retreated now to lay in her comfy bed. No beautiful babies yet but fingers crossed mumma and bubs will all be fine.... I'll keep you updated

14.01.2022 It's been a while... 3 week's break from our social media but so much has happened here! Harry got an engineering job - the dream job, we celebrated our 25th anniversary (thanks @regionality_aus for the perfectly timed party ), Farm2plate exchange was held in the Scenic Rim and dinner here on the farm - (it was AMAZING!!), our new pasteuriser arrived, 5 new lambs, 14 piglets, 7 rapidly growing puppies, we hosted a gorgeous wedding and just yesterday, a long lunch for @qldfa...rmers #eatqld The socials were let slip even though there was so much excitement to share. I think it was the adrenaline of so many amazing things going on that kept us going! I can tell you we're starting to feel it now... There's so much coming up for @eatlocalweek but we're looking forward to a little break over the next week. Stay tuned for puppies, lambs and piglets!

12.01.2022 We had a fabulous day on Sunday for our Show Day on the farm. Thanks so much to everyone who came along - we very much appreciated your patience and willingness to comply with all the covid safety measures, all done with happy, smiling faces! The gourmet ice creams were a hit and, as always, the animal feeding and pumpkin smashing pig feeding. Thanks to our amazing team of helpers who made the day run so smoothly - you are champions! Griffin County kept the beats going all day and the goodies from @beanzlander coffee, 2m8’s BBQ and the Darlington School kept everyone well fed. Our farm larder will be open this Sunday as part of the Destination Scenic Rim farm gate trail. We'll have more details on that soon!

10.01.2022 It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas here on the farm. A little early Christmas cheer won't go astray this year, that's for sure! We're really getting into the Christmas spirit this year and launching some limited edition Jersey Girl products to complement your Christmas desserts perfectly. And, you'll be able to get your hands on them at our last farm gate for 2020 on Saturday 5th December from 9am to 12.30pm. If our Double Cream wasn't already decadent enough for you..., we thought we'd take it up a notch for the festive season... Butter Whisky Double Cream made with Tamborine Mountain Distillery butter whisky. I've had no shortage of volunteer taste testers for this one! If you're more of a traditionalist, our Brandy Double Cream is sure to hit the spot. And, our cultured salted butter has even had a Christmas makeover with the addition of some sugar and spice and all things nice - perfect with a slice of toasted sourdough or fresh pancakes. We've asked a few of our fabulous Scenic Rim producer friends to join us for a cute little Pop-Up shop in The Barn for our Christmas farm gate. 09.01.2022 Just a week ago, we were preparing ourselves for a pretty serious drought situation ahead. Unable to irrigate from the river (it had stopped running here) and our bore far from capable of supplying us with decent irrigation for feeding the milkers as well as stock water. This morning, we woke to the sound of the Albert River in full flight! That glorious sound signalling a reprieve, at least for a little while. We can stop thinking of drought survival scenarios and instead fo...cus on harnessing all that we can in the next month or so to help us prepare for the inevitable dry spell to follow later on. We've just finished pulling the river pumps up to higher ground - the tell tale smell of the river, warning it's still on the rise. 03.01.2022 The Olina update... She's had 3 little treasures (very surprising as her previous litter was big and she was enormous again this time!), mumma and bubs doing well. They're quite big for newborns. Can't wait to see them starting to venture out and about over the next couple of days!

01.01.2022 It's a big week in the Tommerup household. This gorgeous girl of ours graduated from high school yesterday. Even before she was old enough to start school officially, she loved it. So much so, that she went to school the year before she was supposed to - benefits of a beautiful country school like Darlington. George has been a little sponge from the very beginning; she has an unquenchable thirst for knowledge. Her hard work and passion for learning has paid off with 4 subje...ct awards, a gold medal academic award and the USQ academic excellence award at this year's awards night. She has had to dig deep this year to overcome some big personal hurdles but she's done it and what makes me even more proud is that she's learnt that it's ok to ask for help. Our school days are over. We've been so fortunate to have our children educated, loved, encouraged and nurtured by amazing teachers and teacher aides. Little Darlington School set our kids up to be lifelong learners and we will be forever grateful to the amazing staff and community. Beaudesert High School teachers have been amazing too. They have made such an impression on George, she hopes to return as a teacher to Beaudesert. Here's to the resilient and strong class of 2020
