It was made at a fundraising horse ra...ce for the Royal Flying Doctor Outback Service at William Creek in July 1984. Kego, a young indigenous man from Oodnadatta, had been given a horse he had never ridden and he, along with a dozen additional riders, lined up to race. The race track had a sharp elbow turn and Kego's horse just decided that no, it would go straight ahead and so Kego disappeared over many dunes before he finally turned his beast around. Fifteen minutes after all the riders had returned in came Kego exhibiting all the body language of a winner; note not a single head in the crowd was turned to cheer him in! This did not bother Kego, he simply believed in his heart he had won!
