24.01.2022 Covid causes great uncertainty in our lives. Finding fun things to do at home is important for us all but particularly for families with young children. The Tomorrow Today team has been busy preparing free activity packs for families with young children. We know from the 2020 lockdowns that many of our families missed catching up with each other at weekly Parents Early Education Partnership (PEEP) sessions, said Rosie Koop, Executive Officer. To help local families keep l...ittle ones entertained while PEEP group sessions are not operating, we’ve created fun activity packs. The packs contain craft activities, story books and games. All activities are designed to increase children’s learning of important fine motor skills (such as cutting and pasting), counting, and rhyming. These skills all help to ensure they start school ready to learn. Families are encouraged to share their children’s creations on the Tomorrow Today PEEP Facebook page. Anyone in Benalla and district with a child aged under 6 years can contact Tomorrow Today for an activity pack. The packs are available for collection from the Rocket Park 10am to 12noon on Tuesday to Thursday this week. For families who live in town but don’t have transportation, packs can be dropped into letterboxes. For more information about activity packs, please contact Tomorrow Today on 5762 1211.
22.01.2022 Tomorrow Today's offices will be closed but our work continues! Staff will be working from home during the snap pandemic lockdown. Please contact us on 5762 1211 if you require assistance.
21.01.2022 Following the advice of health and government authorities, Tomorrow Today’s offices will be closed from 5pm on Wednesday 5th August 2020 until further notice. If you need to speak to a member of staff, please call 5762 1211 from 9am-5pm Monday to Friday. The health and safety of our program participants, volunteers, staff and the Benalla community are our utmost concern. We thank the Benalla community for their support of our programs. We will advise when programs recommence.
21.01.2022 Our Connect9 program, which connects Year 9 students with a community mentor to try new experiences and challenges in Benalla, got off to a great start prior to lockdown. When Level 3 restrictions were imposed, our mentors and mentees undertook planned activities face-to-face, with masks on, including this visit to Benalla Art Gallery. We've now pivoted to offer this program online. Mentee-mentor activity packs have been provided to immerse participants in careers development and trying new skills. We are constantly heartened by the resilience shown by our young people as they adapt to the changing world around them.
20.01.2022 What a year it has been! A year of challenges, a year of restrictions and physical isolation, but also a year for Benalla people to appreciate and feel proud of where we live: our wide-open spaces, our relative freedom and our close-knit community. Tomorrow Today is pleased to present its Annual Report. We hope you enjoy reading about the activities that so many organisations, businesses and volunteers support across Benalla. https://tomorrowtoday.com.au/news-and-events/publ...ications/ We wish you a safe and happy Christmas. Our office will be closed from 5pm on Tuesday 22nd December 2020 and will re-open at 9am on Monday 4th January 2021.
19.01.2022 Tomorrow Today was delighted to hear from parents Ashley and Caroll that an early start to literacy development in our PEEP program had helped Owen, now in Year 2, achieve reading success. #earlylearningmatters https://tomorrowtoday.com.au/whole-community-approach-to-e/
18.01.2022 Look what our friends at EdSpace have made for the Focus on Ability Short Film Festival - a short film that shares such a love of learning and sense of community! Link in the comments. Visit the page this week and vote for their video :)
18.01.2022 "We are so pleased to be able to make these grants," says Rosie. It is enormously satisfying that as a result of funds generously donated by Benalla people, we’re able to support great local initiatives and projects." Several of the projects are now underway; Global Sisters starts in our space in Nunn Street today. We are looking forward to the progress of all the recipients.
17.01.2022 ’When young people start the program, we ask them to name three things they are interested in pursuing or passionate about’ says Karen. ‘For Jack, I think all three were trains!’ Read on for the story of how Connect9 brought together year 9 student Jack Deleuver with a community mentor who is equally passionate about trains. https://tomorrowtoday.com.au/connect9-brings-together-gene/
16.01.2022 Tomorrow Today's Connect9 mentees celebrated the end of this year's program with an exciting glider flight over Benalla. Many thanks to our mentees, mentors and community partners who supported Connect9 during this most challenging year.
13.01.2022 Our newest board member hasn't always loved Benalla! In this interview, Marsha Watson shares her feelings about the town, and why she joined us in our work. https://tomorrowtoday.com.au/board-member-marsha-watson/
12.01.2022 This week Tomorrow Today’s Connect9 mentees had the opportunity to be introduced to the virtual world of robotics and coding. We are extremely grateful to Galen Catholic College for generously volunteering their time to show us through the https://vr.vex.com website. The mentees tackled the challenges with a sense of fun and purpose. This free website is available to anyone interested in robotics and coding, young and old!
12.01.2022 Our office may be closed, but we’re busier than ever. And getting fit in the process! Level 3 restrictions mean we can’t do things as usual. So we’re finding new ways to do things. We’re offering PEEP Walk and Talks to our parents and kids. We are busy developing activity packs for parents looking to entertain and stimulate kids in lockdown. Many of our programs for children/parents and young people are still running online via Zoom, including PEEP song times twice weekly, l...ive chats for our Newborns’ Group, and student mentoring. For anyone needing an outdoor challenge, we’ve got family scavenger hunts coming up on Facebook. The Pen Pals program with Cooinda connects young people to our older residents - is there anything lovelier than getting a letter in the post that’s not a bill??? For Benalla’s digital ninjas, keep an eye out for our Digital Story Telling workshops. For information about any of the above, call Corena on 57 62 1211. We are here to help.

08.01.2022 Our Early Years staff, currently unable to run face to face Parent Early Education Partnership (PEEP) groups, are now meeting with families for ‘walk and talks’. Some families just need someone outside their household to talk to. Others need advice and referrals to local services. If you, or anyone you know, would like to ‘walk and talk’, contact us on 5762 1211.
07.01.2022 Give us a wave, Benalla!
01.01.2022 I am sad to be attending my last Tomorrow Today Board Meeting today, after 3 years as a Director. Its been a privilege to be involved in such an impactful foun...dation, that has had such an incredible contribution to the development and growth of Benalla for over 20 years. During these difficult times, the Foundation continues to support and deliver its programs to my home town. See more
