24.01.2022 Enough is enough. In December last year, we lost four women within one week to family violence. Three of those were on the same day. In Australia last year we lost 55 women*, killed at the hands of a man most often known to them. More than one woman each week in 2020. That is too many. In Australia, every two mins, a woman contacts a domestic violence hotline**. Indigenous females are up to 35 times more likely to experience domestic and family violence than non-Indigenou...Continue reading

08.01.2022 "Most of the time I feel invisible, and it makes me not want to come to school." Majority of the room had no idea that someone in their year level had felt unseen and excluded almost every day. In our third workshop module we navigate and unpack the tricky terrain of the ways women treat each other. It can be a difficult topic and wasn’t an easy pill for the girls at Tumut High School to swallow. Especially after hearing that their actions were responsible for someone not... wanting to show up to school. Unfortunately we don’t often know, unless we ask. And we can’t change, unless we talk about it. As a group we sat and explored all the ways in which our words and actions can make or break peers within their year level. By the end of the workshop every single student had committed to one simple thing they were going to do to make things a easier for each other, especially for those struggling socially in 'girl world'. - Devyn While the topics can be hard, the conversations and results are worth it. 07.01.2022 In 2019 I had the pleasure of working with one of the most honest, and courageous groups of Year 10 girls, ever. The group were from McClelland College and I was so lucky to have met them. I couldn’t wait to get back there last year. However the group was really outnumbered by the boys, about 36 boys and just 8 girls, so a few of the girls from the previous year’s workshop joined us. From the outset, I could feel the hesitation in the room. Bringing girls together from di...fferent year levels and asking them to be open and honest is a pretty huge ask. But halfway through the workshop you could feel a shift. These young women started to open up about their life experiences, with total support from those around them. It was epic to feel the camaraderie between the girls as the workshop progressed, and I was happy to know that they’ll be going into this next year feeling like there’s a whole tribe of girls, both older and younger, who have their backs. - Abbey #raisinggirls #girlstowomen #stronggirlsrule #confidentgirls #womenoftomorrow #tomorrowwoman #powerfulwomen #raisinggirls #girlstowomen #stronggirlsrule #confidentgirls #womenoftomorrow #tomorrowwoman #powerfulwomen #tomorrowwoman #questionthestatusquo #findyourvoice #bravenotperfect #womeninspiringwomen #womenhelpingwomen #change #changemakers #genderstereotypes #smashingstereotypes #breakthesilence #hervoicematters #doyou #tomorrowwomanaustralia #reignitinghervoice #womensworkshops See more

04.01.2022 "F*ck the box." She had always been told to wear her long hair out, to not eat too much, to study hard, to dress appropriately, not to date until she was older, to not make a fuss or attract attention, and to never step out of line. She has spent majority of her life suppressing a version of herself, that she had been told wasn’t valued in the world. Gay, creative, quirky, outspoken, passionate, and rebellious. All the things she knew about herself, but wasn’t given permi...ssion to be. In front of a full classroom, this brave young woman shared the challenges of navigating peoples expectations. She spoke about the battle between those expectations versus being true to who she is. Once she realised she would never fit into the box that people wanted her to she introduced a daily mantra of fuck the box. I was floored. This 16-year-old girl had taught me and the rest of her year level that the most challenging, bravest, and most rewarding thing you’ll ever do is push aside the boxes we are told to fit into, and muster the courage to just be yourself. - Devyn Get in touch to book a workshop for 2021. 02.01.2022 In December I had the absolute pleasure of facilitating our very last workshop of what was one of the most challenging years to date. It was incredibly real and honest, filled with stories of the depths and diversity of lives lived by the women on the Northern Beaches. To those women who filled the room and revealed snippets of their life that evening, thank you. Thank you for reminding me of the raw power and beauty that is ignited when we are brave enough to wrestle our w...ay out of hiding. To speak our truth. The wisdom shared in that room, amongst women of all ages, from those still in high school to those who have hung up their working boots, was an honour to witness. As a facilitator, my version of womanhood radically expanded that evening by simply being in the presence and witnessing the magic that surfaced within those women. Despite the year that was 2020, I finished it off with a heart full of gratitude and pride as a woman in this world! Thank you, thank you, thank you. - Devyn #raisinggirls #girlstowomen #stronggirlsrule #confidentgirls #womenoftomorrow #tomorrowwoman #powerfulwomen #hercode #schoolworkshops #workshopsforgirls #buildingresilience #anxiety #anxietyawareness #depression #mentalhealthawareness #women #womensupportingwomen #womenshealth #womenempoweringwomen #bravenotperfect #womeninspiringwomen #womenhelpingwomen #change #changemakers #genderstereotypes #speakup #becourageous #hervoicematters #northernbeaches #gather See more

01.01.2022 It was one of the first workshops that I had the pleasure of sitting in on. Driving out to Ringwood Secondary College, I was unsure what to expect and exactly how the next two hours would play out. To my amazement this group of Year 10s really showed up, sharing some bloody beautiful things throughout the workshop. Being open and honest with yourself is one thing (and hard enough), but to open up in front of your peers, friends, and complete strangers is extremely brave. ... One young woman in the room really stood out to me. I could really see myself in her, and I could also see that not much has changed since I was in high school. I would have traditionally labeled this young women as one of the ‘popular girls’, someone who took up a lot of space in a room. But not this room. She was reserved, quiet, and not really engaging with the workshop. Over the next two hours I watched this girl grow, as slowly she started to engage with the group. During the ‘Step to the Line’ activity I noticed she was extremely honest. I could see her brain ticking as she really thought about the answers. While it was beautiful to watch her be so open, it was sad to see how much pressure as girls, we put on ourselves to seem ‘put together’. In reality we are all battling something internally and we just want to be heard and supported. There is something so powerful about being in a room with women who are all so different, yet we can all be experiencing the same internal dialogue. I felt proud to be a woman in that room watching change happen with these awesome girls. - Sarah #raisinggirls #girlstowomen #stronggirlsrule #confidentgirls #womenoftomorrow #tomorrowwoman #powerfulwomen #hercode #schoolworkshops #workshopsforgirls #buildingresilience #tomorrowwoman #questionthestatusquo #mentalhealthawareness #women #womensupportingwomen #bravenotperfect #womeninspiringwomen #womenhelpingwomen #change #changemakers #breakthesilence #womensrightsarehumanrights #speakup #becourageous #hervoicematters #doyou #tomorrowwomanaustralia #reignitinghervoice #womensworkshops See more
