20.01.2022 For anyone that was following the progress of my calendar sales towards the end of last year, I sold all but a few of my target 100! A huge thanks to everyone who showed their support, thanks to your generosity $1,000 (the proceeds if all 100 had sold) has been donated to Save The Brumbies Inc. (STB) which will go straight towards feed, care and rehoming of Guy Fawkes Brumbies! Words can't express my gratitude or the gratitude of the team at STB. None of the brumby rescue organisations receive government funding, they all rely on the generosity of kind hearted individuals. My thoughts are with the brumbies of the High Country and everyone who is valiantly trying to save them from destruction! #brumbylivesmatter #brumbies #horses

17.01.2022 Something a bit different from my yard back in January when we were dealing with bushfires. This little guy (and a few friends) was helping keep the caterpillar population down. By the time these guys finish you don’t even know where the hole was!

11.01.2022 Here’s another visual delight from the night sky above my yard. This is The Large Magellanic Cloud, a diffuse galaxy found in the Southern sky looking like a patch of high cloud. It is the larger of 2 such patches (the small Magellanic Cloud, another diffuse galaxy, is the other patch). Both are closer to our Milky Way than the Andromeda galaxy, our nearest spiral galaxy neighbour. #astrophotography #nightphotography #nightsky

02.01.2022 After close to 5 years covering equestrian events I have decided to take a break. Some of you are aware that a little under 2 years ago I went back to working full time in a 9-5 job. It isn’t where my heart and passion lies but it is what I had to do to pay the bills and the mortgage. As much as I wish it did, equestrian events just don’t bring in enough to make ends meet. The last 2 years have taken a toll on me and my wife as we’ve both been working non stop, 7 days a week..., including late nights image processing after getting home from a long day at work. We’ve enjoyed seeing you guys living your dream and capturing your special moments and have met many awesome people and made special friendships that we both cherish. The pandemic left us with a lot of time to think (not to mention business expenses). We have only managed to give our own horses the left-overs of our time and haven’t ridden them in 5 years, both things we want to change. A huge heartfelt thanks to all the amazing people who have supported us over the last 5 years! See more

01.01.2022 With my Equestrian Event photography grinding to a halt and the restrictions on travel, I figured I’d have a go at stargazing and astrophotography from my backyard. A series of street lights have been installed along a new access road courtesy of a subdivision going in behind us, so there is more light pollution in my yard compared to the last time I had a night shoot out there. I had another go at capturing The Orion Nebula with its companions, this time with my mini telesco...pe and a star tracker. The results are from a few nights of imaging when the clouds and wind permitted. It won’t be long before Orion will disappear below the Western horizon for the winter, so I’m glad I got an opportunity to image it using my new scope! Using a tracker allows for much longer exposures, revealing so much more detail than I was previously able to capture! I’m pretty happy with the results & hope to turn my attention to other celestial targets sometime soon! I hope everyone has been keeping safe and well during this unprecedented time! #astrophotography #nightphotography See more
