24.01.2022 Recommended watching: My Octopus Teacher, a moving documentary that chronicles free diver and filmmaker Craig Foster’s unlikely underwater friendship with a wild common octopus in South Africa. The film follows Foster as he tracks the octopus' movements over a year, transporting viewers into the mysterious creature’s natural world and point of view in a way that has rarely been done before. The unlikely bond between them is a mentorship on the fragility of life and man's conn...ection to nature. Beautifully filmed and incredibly touching, the documentary was directed by Pippa Ehrlich and James Reed and is streaming now on @netflixanz. . . . #netflix #documentary #octopusteacher #nomoretakoyaki

19.01.2022 What were watching: The Midnight Gospel now streaming on Netflix, created by Adventure Time creator Pendleton Ward and comedian Duncan Trussell. Fittingly described as Rick & Morty meets the Joe Rogan Podcast, psychedelic animation is fused with real interviews lifted from Duncan Trussells Family Hour podcast, where guests explore questions of mindfulness, spirituality and self-actualisation in the modern world.

12.01.2022 The availability bias is the tendency to think that examples of things that come readily to mind are more representative than is actually the case. For example, people remember vivid events like plane crashes and lottery wins, leading some of us to overestimate the likelihood that our plane will crash or, more optimistically - but equally erroneously - that we will win the lottery. The psychological phenomenon is just one of a number of cognitive biases that hamper critical t...hinking and, as a result, the validity of our decisions. 12.01.2022 In traditional Japanese aesthetics, wabi-sabi () is a philosophy centered on the acceptance of transience and imperfection. The aesthetic is sometimes described as one of beauty that is "imperfect, impermanent, and incomplete". The philosophy of wabi-sabi encourages us to focus on the blessings hiding in our daily lives, and celebrating the way things are rather than how they should be. There are seven aesthetic principles in achieving wabi-sabi:... - Kanso simplicity - Fukinsei asymmetry or irregularity - Shibumi beauty in the understated - Shizen naturalness without pretense - Yugen subtle grace - Datsuzoku freeness - Seijaku tranquility #philosophy #Japanese #aesthetics #wabisabi

11.01.2022 Today is R U OK? Day. Its our national day of action when we remind Australians that every day is the day to ask, Are you OK? if someone in your world is struggling with lifes ups and downs. You don't need to be an expert to reach out - just a good friend and a great listener. The theme for this year is: 'THERE'S MORE TO SAY AFTER R U OK?. If you feel like somethings not quite the same with someone you know theres something going on in their life or you notice a ch...ange in what theyre saying or doing - trust that gut instinct and take the time to ask them Are you OK? If someone says theyre not OK, make time to listen, encourage action and check in. That conversation could change, or even save, their life. . . . #ruok #ruokday #ruokday2020 #mentalhealth #support #wellbeing #conversation See more

11.01.2022 Stunning interpretation of the #japanesegarden by @sixnfive The Japanese Garden series combines classical elements of Japanese architecture with stylized flora to create scenes that perfectly capture the cultures desire for simplicity. Portraying the minimal, surreal, and tranquil atmosphere of Japan, we tried to carry a consistent design language throughout each image using elements such as perfectly pruned trees, birch wood accents, and overcast mountain landscapes. The result was these surreal and pleasant compositions surrounded by green and nature. #architecture #interior #design #inspiration #art #japan #garden #zen

10.01.2022 There is a sense of satisfaction that comes at the conclusion of our shopping escapes, and its not always just the shiny new purchase that affirms our behaviour. When we set out on a journey to make a purchase, its not necessarily because we want that particular product or service, its because we have the intent to find a solution to a perceived pre-identified problem. So where does our intent come from? Read our latest article: https://tonicdigital.com.au/starting-with-in...tent/ #intent #psychology #behaviour #attitudes #marketing

09.01.2022 One of the quotes ascribed to Charles Darwin is, it isn’t the strongest of the species that survives, nor the most intelligent, it is the one that is most adaptable to change. What applies to the species of animals, also applies to leaders. The leaders that survive and thrive are the ones that adapt to changing environments and stay ahead of the curve. Of course, staying ahead of the curve is never as easy as it sounds, and it is a place that comes with its own risks. Link... in bio to our latest blog #adapting #change #leadership

08.01.2022 For the majority of Not-For-Profit organisations, one of the consequences of COVID was the impact on service delivery. A 2020 research project reported 54% of NFP's had to significantly change the way they provided services, while 17% had to suspend services completely. Only 3% did not have to change their method of service delivery. In adapting to these changes, the NFP technological environment and ability to provide client engagement has become more important. 07.01.2022 In honor of #PrideMonth we look back to Weimar Berlin, before the Nazis rose to power. This photo was taken in the Eldorado, Berlin 1930 ( by Herbert Hoffman), a nightclub that welcomed everyone in the queer community. Activists and medical professionals made Berlin a city of firststhe first gay journal, the first homosexual rights organization, the first Institute for Sexual Science, the first sex reassignment surgeriesexploring and educating themselves and the rest of the world about new ways of understanding the human condition. Want to learn more? Gay Berlin: Birthplace of A Modern Identity by Robert Beachy offers a fascinating examination of how the uninhibited urban culture of Berlin helped create our categories of sexual orientation and gender identity.

05.01.2022 Part one of @alex_nerovnya HUMAN SPIRIT series, commemorating the extraordinary effort that is being put into the battle with the pandemic by ordinary doctors, nurses and aid workers, who have become our stalwart defenders in these uncertain times. What these times demand of us is the strength of our human spirit. For some its the strength to once again put on a gown, a mask, a pair of gloves and get ready for another shift at the hospital. For others its the strength to keep delivering food, medical supplies and other necessities to those who can not do it themselves. For the majority of us, its the strength to put our lives on pause, stay at home and stop the spread of the illness. - Alex Nerovnya #architecture #art #design

04.01.2022 Nomad Patterns by Livia Marin The two series, Broken Things and Nomad Patterns, are made from fragments of everyday objects cups, bowls, jars, pots and the like that appear as staged somehow indeterminately between something that is about to collapse or has just been restored; between things that have been invested with the attention of care but that also have the appearance of a ruin. These works aim to reflect on aspects of loss and care, disposal and preservation, and on the relationship we develop with the day-to-day objects that populate our everyday lives. #art #inspiration #liviamarin

03.01.2022 How are attitudes formed? One theory is through learning. Evaluative conditioning, or evaluative learning, is the process by which we form an attitude towards a neutral stimulus because of its association with a positive or negative person, place or thing. You may have noticed how advertising strategically pairs their products with attractive models, uplifting music, beloved celebrities, nostalgic images or other emotional symbols. One classic example of this is the Have a Coke and a Smile campaign. . . . #advertising #psychology #attitudes #influence #marketing #digitalmarketing
