06.01.2022 Hi everyone! I just want to thank you all for following my artistic journey! I really appreciate you taking the time to view my work and all your encouraging comments too! Here is the progress of my current painting. This is going to be the start of a series of paintings conveying a specific message with the focus of emotional struggles people face deep within and world issues. Each painting will be making a different statement. ... I feel as though this series is taking me all the way back to when I first started painting. My very first small painting was of a starving child and my first large painting was of a cougar cub whose natural habitat was being overtaken by a polluted city. I have always loved art that deeply touches the heart and leaves something for the viewer to think about. I hope this will be achieved in my upcoming series. With school holidays almost upon us this new project will really gain momentum and take flight in the new year. So watch this space as there are lots of exciting things to come!
03.01.2022 This is the third painting I've done using a palette knife. I've just been trying to find my own way with this technique as I haven't had any lessons. But that's how I've approached all my art so far. Apart from taking art as a subject at school, I'm a self taught artist. I still need to relax more and enjoy the process as the outcome is unknown when it's all new and different. There were times I was disappointed in how the painting was developing as it wasn't what I was pict...uring in my head. But patience is also very important because sometimes it's not until all the elements come together and you see the painting as a whole that you realise it all flows well. Creativity is all about experimenting stepping outside your comfort zone. This means you need to accept the falls though. This is how you keep bettering yourself (says the perfectionist) As much as I hate messing up, there's always something to take away from an experience and you can be sure the next attempt will turn out so much better. Plus determination goes a long way See more
01.01.2022 'Under The Surface (36"x36") Acrylic painting created with a palette knife. A couple of reference photos were used from pexels.com Beautiful People Nervous eyes dart this way and that way unsteady with no filtration.... The style of ones hair, the brand of ones clothes is first observation. Connections and stature is what will determine engagement. Knock, knock, flicking hair, adjusting clothes but all else is vacant. Social acceptance is at the top of the list tick that box or be quickly dismissed. Peacock feathers spread out for all to see but sadly lack the soul kiss. They push, shove and trample each other fighting to stand on display. Crowds are their following but are only there for the spectacle and parade. The ugly are beaten down by shame and hide away from the world. Judging stares weigh heavy encaging them in the corner curled. Faces everywhere repeat ugly, ugly, ugly and the cycle continues. Misunderstanding bounces back and forth in broken down signals. The courageous take high ground and bellow their roar throughout the land. They block out the noise and grasp hold of the outstretched hand. Opening wide these ones quickly learn how to fly with a wingspan of fullness. Exposing soft under belly they are deeply connected to an internal compass. There are no restrictions to the corner or a desire to stick to the centre. But they walk the tight rope and go all over as their peers are not the censor. Yes the real ones are rock solid whom can be felt, touched and never disappear. They are far removed from the frivolous and have surfed over waves of fear. Being real makes an original and a heart that mirrors full circle. The glowing light smiles down from the dark and flickers in waters eternal. We are all beautiful people when we hydrate what's parched and dance in the light. It means digging deep, knowing who we are and shining as beacons in the night. By Toni Taufua 16/12/20 1 Samuel 16:7
