19.01.2022 One of Sydney’s new favourite hangout spots, (& one of our fav projects!) the Kensington Street Precinct in Chippendale, has been shortlisted in this year’s @architecturensw Awards for Urban Design. 07.01.2022 Located on the flat sand plane of Rose Bay in Sydney’s eastern suburbs, this cottage addition opens up towards a substantial Lilly Pilly tree in the northern rear garden. The pool acts as a keying element between the garden lawn and house. It throws water reflections in ‘dancing’ patterns onto the cantilevered soffit extending from the living room. These reflections further reinforce the interplay between the gently moving garden and the still house. The new zinc clad ‘hat’ f...orm, containing the main bedroom and ensuite, is a more poetic way to maximise the available permissible volume. The client’s preference for long-life, durable, low maintenance materials is seen throughout the house, in its timber, zinc cladding, steel, stone, Colorback glass and aluminum plate.
