19.01.2022 Customer brought engine in for possible rebuild with no history known. So after diagnosing its general condition and working out it had been rebuilt in the past, I replaced the worn camshaft, oil pump etc and upgraded the fuel and ignition systems. Good compressions, good oil pressure and great fuel and ignition upgrades for a lot less money than the customer was expecting. Good result all round

14.01.2022 Diagnose THIS? We reckon its the Video of the Year... Already! A mate of mine just bought this Ford Ranger 3.2 and sadly within a day it started running rough a...nd knocking loudly. Was it bad luck or was it something else. Well as we know luck doesnt really exist. Its just the aligning of conditions and the timing of them that makes a good luck story OR a bad luck story. So luck or timing had it that this engine was "running backwards"! Anyway back to the story. So how did we know this engine was running backwards? Just take a look and a listen to the video. The vehicle is running with a huge loud knocking noise and spewing loads of white smoke out the tail pipe. At least 1 of the injectors is seized open allowing fuel to go in continuously creating the loud knocking noise. Keep listening and you hear the engine loose speed and virtually stop. Its at this moment that as the engine stops and kicks back a tad, the injector thats just pouring fuel in allows the engine to kick back hard enough to start the engine in reverse rotation. You now see clouds of white smoke start pouring out of the Intake and airbox...and the guys all run! Was the engine still ok? An easy check was to leave the fuel lines loose on the injectors, crank the motor over and feed it some Aerostart (eather spray) into the inlet. The engine fired up and ran as normal which was enough evidence to know the engine wasnt damaged by this ordeal. Phew! So....how do you prevent this from happening? Well after sampling the Diesel Fuel it was clear to see that this Diesel wasnt just Diesel. It was cloudy and horrible looking. Something no fuel filter could stop or filter out BUT maybe something you might notice in a glass bowl filter. $3k later and all is fixed BUT it all started with poor quality Diesel. Change your fuel filter regularly as part of normal maintenance. If your really after some extra help then fit a Diesel Pre-filter. 11.01.2022 Carburettor rebuilds and restoration no problems!

11.01.2022 People ask me why I cant service their car as cheaply as capped price servicing. This is why. They dont do much! Some manufacturers dont even specify a fuel filter change interval and when the blocked filter light comes on, the damage may already be done. You get what you pay for and filters are cheap in comparison to the cost of not changing them in resultant damage
