25.01.2022 A lot of residents have been contacting me wanting information about the council election, so I thought I would provide some information you can share with your family, friends and neighbours. The election is going to be conducted by post. All ballots will be posted out from 6 to 8 October. Your completed ballot pack must be returned by 6pm on Friday 23 October 2020. The Victorian Electoral Commission office for Hobsons Bay is at the Williamstown Town Hall. ... Please note that voting is compulsory and the law has changed to require residents over 70 to vote as well (they were previously exempt from having to vote in council elections but could have if they wanted to). For more information see the attached image or click the following link to take you to the VEC website. https://www.vec.vic.gov.au//2020-local-council/how-to-vote For more information about me please visit www.briffa.org

20.01.2022 It's nice of the ASU to remember my support for jobs and community services. I opposed the council outsourcing services for in home care for elderly and disabled residents, for ceasing to provide childcare, etc. Basic community services like these are an essential part of council services.

16.01.2022 I'm very pleased to be seeking re-election to the Hobsons Bay City Council. I still have the drive and passion to represent our diverse community, and want to continue as your representative on the council to help lead our community's recovery following the impacts (and the perhaps ongoing impacts) of the pandemic. With a number of councillors not seeking re-election, having some stability and experience from a councillor that gets things done and speaks out for the needs o...f our community is more important than ever. Please consider sharing my post and encouraging other people to vote for me. My website contains more information about me, what I have done as a Councillor and what I will do if re-elected. Importantly, I am a councillor that is honest and constantly communicates and works with the community. My website and social media are always maintained to let the community know what the council is doing and what I am doing to represent them. My campaign against the recent increase to rates and other charges is a good example, as was my successful campaign to save our local kindergartens, and my less than successful campaign to retain in-home support services for elderly and disabled residents from being outsourced. I'm excited about the next 4 years and hope I have your support. Thank you to my family and friends for their ongoing support, and to Manja for her encouragement to seek a further term. Thank you also to so many residents, community groups and businesses for their unwavering support. I am always very proud to represent Altona, Altona North, Altona Meadows, Brooklyn and Seaholme along with the rest of Hobsons Bay, and hope we get a few other genuine independents elected across the city. https://briffa.org

15.01.2022 So great to see our local playgrounds re-opening today!

13.01.2022 Some good news for a local business and residents!

12.01.2022 It's great to see the number of new cases of COVID-19 decreasing in Melbourne. It's a really tough time, but we are getting there and we will get through this. Let's continue to follow the rules to ensure success. It would be great for businesses to be able to open, people to go back to work, and to be able to see family and friends again. I have hope even though this is a really difficult time.

07.01.2022 Despite my best efforts, the Hobsons Bay City Council has approved a rate increase, albeit with a rate rebate applied for 2020-21. This means ratepayers are likely to receive a double rate increase next year. I sought a genuine rate freeze. I support the Capital Works Program but not the rate increase. See the link below for more information and budget details.... I also acknowledge Cr Michael Grech who voted against the rate increase, and Cr Angela Altair who abstained from the vote. http://briffa.org/budget

04.01.2022 Thank you to the Altona Bowling Club for your kind ongoing support. It is such an honour being able to support our local community as their representative on the city council. For more information about me, what I have done as your representative, my policies and how to vote for me, visit my website: www.briffa.org

02.01.2022 Here's the plan Premier Dan Andrews has announced for Melbourne's path out of Stage 4 lockdowns earlier today. We're slowly getting there. It's tough, but we can do this. Be kind and be patient.
