20.01.2022 We have an oversupply of people online (myself included), telling what’s best for us in all matters of life. I’d like to believe the majority of those people have the right intention. There’s an even a bigger supply of people seeking answers. Not everybody has all the answers. We all have the answers inside us. Many of us don’t trust in our intuition enough. We rely too much on others and outside influences and influencers to fill in the blanks. My unsolicited advice for toda...y is don’t take everybody’s advice as gospel (even me). Try it off the rack for size. You might have to make a few alterations to make it fit you and your requirements. Personally I prefer to also listen with an open mind to all comers who come respectfully sans the gratuitous sales pitch and cherry pick the parts that work for me. Happy Sundee Kids. 20.01.2022 Morning Kids, Hardly a day goes by where I don't count my blessings and FEEL gratitude. How could I not when I indulge in two passions?... Mastering music....... And serving primarily young artistic / creative adults as a mentor to those open to considering any insights I may have for their consideration. More and more I'm finding a disturbing trend towards more depression, anxiety, relationship / marriage problems, career dissatisfaction, weight / health issues and loneliness. As far as I’m concerned making a living doing what you love is the of pinnacle of achievement. Achievement however has little (if not fuck all) value if you're not fulfilled. The cornerstone to a happier life is having a healthy self-esteem in my humble opinion. The journey towards reclaiming it and working through it (an on going ride), has it's incredible highs and non-negotiable low points. Just remember when it comes to you there's nothing to "fix". It's the greatest lie we bought into. Yep you fucked up. Who hasn't? Nobody has the monopoly on pain and suffering. But a new future is always available only if you choose to have it. You're more than worthy, capable and deserving to have that great career, relationship, life and happiness. Stop comparing yourselves to others. It's as pointless as having an ashtray on a speeding motorbike. Why you ask??? Because you're a unique expression of life, therefore you're incomparable. I continue to be on this journey with you. Like you I don't have all the answers. Days of self-doubt, concern and worry still exist in my world. I still ask myself "who the fuck am I to be spewing forth any advice, regardless of whether it was asked for or not"? Just remember most of what I share just a pastiche of stuff picked up along the way from others way smarter than myself that worked for me. There no "genius" going here on this side of the keyboard. There is a however a sincere intention to serve for the higher good. Whether it's for your upcoming release or to listen and reflect back about what's burdening you, so you better understand it......and then be able to take some action towards sorting it out. The particulars and severity of said situation may be different, but the themes are similar. There's not much I haven't experienced and come through the other side of. I am and continue to be a work in progress with no end in sight. If you're still here and haven't unfriended me yet, thank you! We are in this together Kids. 16.01.2022 Networking........one of the most important skills required when establishing new relationships, especially professional ones. Events, seminars or gigs offer great opportunities to meet others, whether it's in our own, or associated industries. It's fun to socialise and talk the proverbial "shop", while we exchange ideas and (hopefully) seek opportunities. When it comes to networking many of us see it is a way to leverage....a strategy for making gains. That's all well and go...od and it does have some short term pay-off(s), but I would like to share a different approach. One that worked way better for me. Not only did it bring better personal dividends, but created more win / win situations. We always go further when we create that intention and achieve those outcomes. OK, so how do we do this? Well, rather than looking towards what perceived gains we can create networking, the preferred approach is looking at what / how we can contribute to others. One big mistake new comers make is approaching owners or decision makers with an express intention of asking for their time / advice or job opportunities. It's predictable, often telegraphed very early and not an ideal way to starting proceedings. Instead of doing that, find out what skills / resources you may have that could be of benefit to the person or organisation you're interested in connecting with. For example you may be a gun web designer, social media strategist, technical person or an organisational ninja. These are skills that provide real value these days, especially for older cats like me that have neither the time nor interest to becoming champions of. When we can come to the table with something of value, it provides a better chance to engage and establish way more meaningful dialogue. Relationships are better formed and most importantly trust is built. It's the building and maintenance of trust that is key. So do your homework, offer something of value, follow through on your word and build trust. This is a long haul proposition, so unless you're sincere in how approach it, you will experience more hardship than #mmml #masteringmusicmasteringlife #jackthebear #mastering #deluxemastering

14.01.2022 I love mastering rekkids. I also love mentoring the future generation of audio pros and creatives alike. Older cats like me are duty bound to share knowledge honestly and to be an example by being as consistently congruent as possible. It doesn’t meant you always get it right. It doesn’t mean you’re not just as fucked up and flawed as anyone else. ... It’s not about being perfect or presenting as such. Neither is it about placing unrealistic expectations or selling any bullshit. It’s about sharing mistakes. The shortfalls. The insecurities. The regrets. But most of all......hope. I’m grateful for all the mentoring I received [and continue to] from people I never could have dreamed of. About to start another online group mentoring course. Looking to mentor 5 people through different aspects of their lives to see how we can bring some level of improvement and / or change they seek. The sessions run Wednesday evenings from 7-9pm for 3 weeks. Every now and again we need a little helping hand and word of encouragement. 10.01.2022 The music industry supports the staggeringly high proportion of those who are dealing with their mental health issues. It actively invites people to engage in more open and frank dialogue, where people can safely share their experiences and contribute in meaningful ways. Without that environment and culture set in stone, we will never adequately curb the social stigma still associated with it. Mad respect to those who have the courage to share their journeys in ways that a mi...nority may find too confronting. Know part of the price of your bravery includes receiving unsolicited advice on how your candour is causing a level of discomfort. Reminders of how you should be careful about what you say as it's affecting your standing within your peer group and the scene overall etc etc. I believe these kind of messages are well intentioned but a little misguided. So rather than trying to educate the well-meaning detractors in your defence, I will offer some things for your consideration in the hope that you will stick at it, difficult as it is dealing with the unnecessary bullshit. Remember those who are cringing are also in pain. They simply don't have the balls you do and / or are ready to speak up. They may in a weird way doing you a favour by revealing their true colours. Only a supportive group around you will help your cause. More people than you know are being impacted. They say "the numbers don't lie", but in social media land the number of "likes" & "shares" in no way reflect who's tuning in and taking notice. Everybody has their shit to juggle. Nobody is immune from it. Wherever we can let's provide a friendly word, a kind gesture and to those open it, a reassuring hug to remind them their bravery affects more in a positive than the few who cringe. 09.01.2022 A common theme I find in my mentoring is how people are always focused on what they still have to do / be. That is a constant that will be with us until we exit this realm. There will still be unread emails in your inbox after you exhaled your last breath. What we fail to do is take a brief pause every now and again to have little peek over our shoulder to see how far we have come. This doesn't give a green light to take a foot off the pedal, but it's important to take stock... and reflect on whatever progress has been made. If you're finding yourself in that space of feeling frustrated that you're not where you think you *should* be, I invite you to give yourself a break and celebrate what you've been able to accomplish so far. There was a time when certain aspects of your current situation and circumstance where just a wish. Happy Thursdee Kids <3 #mmml

07.01.2022 Every now and again I get asked why do you bother doing all the activities you do? Surely at your age wouldn’t you be looking to slow down a bit? The short answer I lived too many years as a fat, lazy and unhappy fuck. Compounding that was a decades long battle with addiction issues and a very low self-esteem. I wouldn’t wish it on anyone. Since 2010 it’s been an ongoing journey of highs and lows with incremental improvements and occasional set backs. Today’s version of ...me is a far cry from that bloke back then. I still have room for improvement but I’m living a better life than I ever did. A big part of that is maintaining a consistent regime of weights and martial arts training. Frankly I can’t see myself ever not being active again. There will be new challenges. I will fuck up. I will learn. I’ll keep refining. Never let age stop you starting anything new. 07.01.2022 When you love what you do you don’t think about what day or time it is. You’re not looking at a clock to see how far it is from smoko, lunchtime or knocking off. Ever since I was a 15 year old it was clear to me that finding work that was fulfilling and fun was going to be a non-negotiable for me. With the exception of my ever-supportive Mum nobody else thought I would achieve my ambition(s), let alone make a living which allows me to create the lifestyle I currently enjoy. I... have often I’m not rich but I live richly and the things I’m abundant in cannot be bought with money. I have less years ahead of me than I’ve had and I’ve come to terms and am OK that one day I will die. Given time is my most precious commodity I intend to use it as wisely as possible. I’ll be dedicating myself more and more to sharing my life lessons to those open to considering what’s on offer. I’d love to see a world where more and more young (and not so young) artistic creatives pursue their aspirations regardless of whether they make a living or not. For me success is in the doing.....the process.....the pursuit of what’s fun and filling of spirit. It’s where happiness lives and thrives. And if you can serve others whilst going do then you can also leave a legacy that will hopefully last longer than any hospital wing named after you or statue erected in your honour. I still pinch myself when I take a snapshot of my life and feel immense gratitude. I hope you crazy Kids get to feel those feels. I intend to do all I can to provide whatever I can that may assist you on your road trip. Let’s go!!! 05.01.2022 My Mate and sometimes partner in crime Phil Krokidis along with myself, disrupted the FM airwaves by creating an unprecedented DJ mix show. It took off like wildfire becoming the fastest growing syndicated radio show of the day. We sneakily slipped in tracks that the programmers of the day wouldn’t dare snd occasionally took the piss with some very obscure choices. ... This was a little thing we put together and like the shows we created had such a blast. Never have have I seen a release where the mastering engineer got a credit on the cover!! Still bewildered by the thinking behind it but grateful for the smirk it still gives me years later. Thanks Phil for being the genius behind this showing the world how we could make champagne occasionally out of cat piss
