23.01.2022 It's a family affair! As a true INDEPENDENT and first time candidate I've had to rely heavily on the support of my wonderful partner, family and friends during this campaign and I'm extremely grateful to everyone who has volunteered their time. Having a fun day down here at Woodford Community Hall early voting with my sister and daughter. Come on down and say Hi

23.01.2022 This is one of the reasons we love where we live. We get regular visits from families of King Parrots who seem to fly in just for the company and used to see Nancy, a rescue wallaby with a joey, hopping around the yard after being released back into the bush by her carer. I want to preserve our lifestyle through sustainable development. Our region is fast growing and that comes with more houses, cars and people and we need to be smart about how we manage our land and resources. Development and progress is generally more about people and not wildlife and the environment. It is a complex and emotional topic depending on which side of the fence a person sits. Everyone has a point of view about development and nature and I would like to achieve a truly sustainable balance between the two.

22.01.2022 Do you have a concern you'd like to raise with Council? I want to hear your views. You can message me here, phone or arrange a meeting. #talktotony

20.01.2022 We all know our region is growing. The increase in development, additional cars on the road and pressure on our infrastructure is all obvious. So, how do we manage it? In this Division 12 election, vote for a candidate you can TRUST to raise your voice in Council. As an INDEPENDENT, I will make sure there are 'no suprises' when it comes to development applications, and our roads and transport hubs will receive the attention they require. Do you have a view? I'd love to hear it. Message me here or phone 0499 715 711. #talktotony

16.01.2022 My PROMISE to YOU is to be STRONG on SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT. Did you know that our region's three favourite outdoor recreational activities are bushwalking/ trail running, mountain biking and horse riding? I found this information in the Draft Outdoor Recreation Plan 2019-2031 released by the Moreton Bay Regional Council. The natural beauty of Moreton Bay region is just one of the reasons I have chosen to stand as an INDEPENDENT candidate in Division 12. I am passionate abo...ut our homes, land and wildlife. I have been living with my family in Woodford for 30 years, choosing it because of its peaceful, rural vibe. As your INDEPENDENT voice for Division 12, it will be my role and pleasure to PRESERVE OUR LIFESTYLE through SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT. We must be SMART about how we manage our land and its resources. This means standing strong on the retention of meaningful wildlife habitats and corridors. It is up to all of us to maintain our unique environment. I want to hear your views on how we PRESERVE and protect this amazing region. Talk to me anytime. #talktotony

15.01.2022 I would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge and celebrate all the Women for their invaluable contribution to our communities. HAPPY INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY!!! Image via Pintrest

15.01.2022 Did you know. NO exceptions. Identification MUST be either a drivers licence or photo identification of yourself WITH documents that are a current utility bill of either electricity, internet/home phone or gas (water and rates are not...Continue reading

14.01.2022 My PROMISE to you is to PRESERVE our region through SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT. I believe in preserving our fantastic lifestyle here in the Moreton Bay region. It is no secret that our region is growing. In fact, at the Census in 2018 we had 34,000 more people living in the area. While this is good for our local business and communities, it does mean more development, more cars on our roads, and more pressure on our infrastructure. We need to be SMART about how we manage our lan...d and our resources. My role as your INDEPENDENT voice in Division 12 will be to PRESERVE OUR LIFESTYLE through SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT. I will make sure that our ROADS and TRANSPORT hubs can meet our increasing demands, that DEVELOPMENT processes are fair and transparent. Being your representative also means being tough when I must be. I do not support residential blocks that are so small they don’t suit the community. Also, some people have raised concerns about the placement of the petrol station in Woodford and the Wamuran pub, which will both be opposite busy schools. Who doesn’t struggle to park? I want developments, especially new developments, to have enough parking facilities and car space. We should consider Polite Parking where we put our wheels on the curb for existing narrow streets without penalty. Perhaps this could be achieved through resident parking permits. I want to hear your views on our how we PRESERVE THIS REGION. Talk to me anytime. #talktotony

14.01.2022 Thank you to 101.5FM Moreton Bay's Own Radio for the opportunity to outline my approach for Division 12. I have lived in this region for 30 years and have a deep understanding of our community and its needs. Please take a few minutes to listen my podcast. I would very much like to hear your views about my platform or other concerns you may have. #talktotony http://1015fm.com.au//policast-mbrc-candidate-for-divisio/

13.01.2022 TRUST and TRANSPARENCY in COUNCIL A resident has put an open request to Division 12 candidates to state their position on how they intend to bring greater transparency to the decision making and general expenditure allocation process conducted by the Moreton Bay Regional Council? His request focused on the tendering process, contract approval and the subsequent publicising of this information. The following is my response to his request: Good question and I understand your fr...Continue reading

13.01.2022 BE SAFE and STAY INFORMED Daily updates of the current COVID-19 health pandemic are fast changing the way we used to live our lives and there will be many in our community who will struggle to keep informed and understand what action they need to take now and in the months to come. Despite the strong encouragement of Social Distancing, our government is allowing our population to interact in ways that contradict all warnings by medical professionals and experts around the w...orld to slow the spread of this virus. Examples include: The Federal government is happy for schools to remain open despite the cases of teachers being infected. Queensland Local Government elections still going ahead on March 28. Beauty practices are to remain open. Public transport such as trains and buses are still operating. Shaking hands not encouraged. Should have simply said No contact? The last 2 days saw thousands of people queued outside of Centrelink locations to register for assistance as MyGov website crashed under the huge demand. Thoroughbred, harness, and greyhound racing events, however, are still going ahead in Australia, but there are restrictions on the number of people allowed to attend. (Article from Business Insider Australia, 24 March 2020). In recent days we have seen State governments taking their own actions to close schools despite the Federal government suggesting they remain open. State borders are now closing and we hear Parliament is now not due to sit again until August 11, with the May budget postponed and other parliamentary sitting days cancelled. With millions of Australians now, or soon to be, without work perhaps parliament should still be sitting to discuss suspending bank monetary activities as Australians are left without money to pay their mortgages and bills. In times like this, it is important that our governments consistently send the right messages that are helpful and instill confidence of the government within the community. Good leadership is essential! Unfortunately, our governments are still sending mixed and conflicting messages concerning what we should be doing to protect ourselves from contracting this virulent virus. It is essential that each of us take the responsibility to be considerate and kind to everyone around us and to make sure we stay in touch with family and mates to ensure they are coping and prepared. This is the foundation of the spirit that Australians are known for around the world. Please don’t let hysteria and panic take control of your actions. Stay safe and be vigilant.. Tony Scougall

11.01.2022 As a long-time resident in Division 12, I'm passionate about this region and have watched with dismay at past council activities. The council did not represent MY VALUES of HONESTY and INTEGRITY. I am running as an INDEPENDENT in this campaign and promise to be YOUR voice in council. I would love to hear your concerns as we count-down to the election. Message me here or call 0499 715 511 #talktotony

11.01.2022 The election ballot paper draw took place this morning. My name will be second on the list of the candidates. #talktotony

10.01.2022 You need a Council you can TRUST. The actions of the new Moreton Bay Regional Council must be fair, transparent and honest. Make sure you have a say by voting for an INDEPENDENT voice in Division 12. I want to hear your views, anytime. Message, phone on 0499 715 511 or arrange a meeting. #talktotony

09.01.2022 Everyone deserves a voice in Council. I recently met with a Wamuran property owner who has been struggling to have a 150m stretch of road sealed near his home. He and his wife live at the top of a steep gravel road owned by Council that is very difficult to traverse, even when it is dry. On the day I visited we stopped halfway up the incline to get a better perspective of the problem. Unfortunately, we could not proceed from the standstill as the car wheels spun in the gravel... and we had to reverse down the road to get a ‘run up’. This gentleman has a genuine concern about the road washing away and emergency vehicles such as ambulances being able to reach the house. While Council workers have been very supportive of his concerns and maintain the road by adding road base on a regular basis, the Council has indicated it will not seal a road leading to only one property. He has offered to contribute to, or pay for, sealing of this road or buying the small parcel of land to do it himself. To date, all suggestions have been denied and his frustration and angst continues. It’s a concern that Council cannot negotiate a better outcome for Division 12 residents where there is a clear need to act. I’ll be taking up this issue as part of my commitment to giving Division 12 residents a VOICE IN COUNCIL. #talktotony

08.01.2022 We had a great day yesterday riding the Woodford Narrow Gauge Railway with the kids and grandkids followed by a delicious meal at Woodford Gardens. The hard working and dedicated volunteers at the Railway do such a fantastic job taking care of everyone, I highly recommend a day trip with the kids and grandkids.

04.01.2022 GOOD LEADERSHIP IS ESSENTIAL We are experiencing an extraordinary situation with COVID-19. It is times such as these where GOOD LEADERSHIP IS ESSENTIAL. With only one week to the election, I want to talk about CAPABILITY. The capability to make the right decisions for the community.... I have EXTENSIVE EXPERIENCE in: Government processes and legislations Budgeting and financial management Compliance and accountability Business continuity and project management Small business providing local jobs This means I can make the correct and appropriate decisions for our community. As we think about our budgets at home, so too Council has to achieve value for money for its expenditure and must be SMART with managing our resources. Just like respect, I believe TRUST is something that has to be earned. I will bring honesty, integrity to my role as Division 12 Councillor and have the capability to hit the ground running. #talktotony

03.01.2022 The Caboolture Herald offered me the opportunity to respond to four questions for its recent feature profiling Moreton Bay Regional Council election candidates. I thought I would publish the questions and answers in full here. The first question related to development. Thanks again for the coverage, Caboolture Herald! Q. What do you think are the biggest development and environmental issues in your division? A. I support sustainable development that balances with the enviro...nment. I want to see changes to practices such as clearing land of all vegetation to build high density housing. I understand we need houses, but I don’t believe there is any gain in destroying our environment for a roof over our heads. I have met people around Wamuran who will be affected by the Caboolture West development and I promise to be their voice in Council. I do not support residential blocks that are so small they do not suit the community. I also want developments, especially new developments, to have enough parking facilities. #talktotony #sustainabledevelopment #Wamuran #Division12 #MoretonBayRegionalCouncil #elections
