25.01.2022 Visiting the historic Boydtown in Southern NSW, namesake of the extraordinary London stockbroker, Benjamin Boyd. A pioneer like no other, construction began on the Seahorse Inn after Boyd amassed 2.5 million acres of land in the area, earmarking Twofold Bay as the site to establish his oil and whaling operation. In 1843 Boyd began construction of the Inn almost exclusively using the labour of convicts. Sandstone from Pyrmont, Sydney lays the foundation to this enigmatic bu...ilding - a testament to Boyd’s vision and determination. Ultimately, the costs of establishing the town itself eventually lead to the liquidators stepping in.
